Job description
Role overview
We are looking for a proactive HSE Officer with a valid NEBOSH certification to help maintain a safe and healthy environment across project sites. This position focuses on putting HSE systems into practice, checking compliance, reducing risk, and strengthening safety awareness throughout the organization.
Key responsibilities
- Put health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures into daily practice and keep them under review.
- Carry out routine site checks to spot hazards and confirm that safety rules are being followed.
- Assess risks and propose corrective as well as preventive actions.
- Lead toolbox talks, safety induction sessions, and HSE awareness training for staff and subcontractors.
- Make sure work activities comply with local laws, client requirements, and recognized HSE standards.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and prepare detailed reports with follow-up actions.
- Track the correct use of PPE and ensure required protective equipment is available.
- Keep HSE records current, including inspection logs, permits, and statutory compliance documentation.
- Support emergency response planning, evacuation drills, and first-aid readiness.
- Oversee waste handling, environmental safeguards, and pollution control measures.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and regulators on HSE-related matters.
- Assist with internal and external HSE audits and ensure observations are closed on time.
- Encourage a strong safety mindset and promote early reporting of hazards.
Qualifications and requirements
- A bachelor’s degree or diploma in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a similar discipline.
- NEBOSH certification or an equivalent qualification is mandatory.
- Additional credentials such as IOSH, OSHA, First Aid, or Fire Safety certification will be considered an added advantage.
