Role Overview
Our client in the UAE is looking to recruit a skilled and committed Health and Safety Officer to uphold strict Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) policies and nurture a safe, healthy, and accident-free environment at multiple project locations. The role demands a proactive, detail-focused individual with leadership qualities to promote continuous safety enhancement and regulatory compliance.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and supervise OHS policies, procedures, and programs.
- Advise and lead personnel on health, safety, and environmental issues.
- Design and conduct OHS training and awareness initiatives for staff and management.
- Ensure full adherence to all relevant health, safety, environmental laws and company standards.
- Carry out risk evaluations and suggest measures to prevent and correct workplace hazards.
- Monitor on-site work activities for compliance with safety regulations and procedures.
- Identify and intervene in unsafe behaviors, conditions, or methods threatening people or property.
- Manage safety aspects related to construction, maintenance, repairs, and installations.
- React swiftly to incidents, accidents, or emergencies by applying risk control strategies.
- Support root cause analysis investigations and recommend corrective solutions.
- Assist with workers’ compensation and claim processing related to injuries.
- Conduct site inductions, safety talks, and regular training sessions.
- Compile and submit safety reports, inspection logs, and regulatory compliance documents.
- Maintain detailed records of incidents, audits, inspections, and remedial actions.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- At least 5 years of experience in health and safety within the construction sector, specifically in the GCC.
- Comprehensive knowledge of UAE health and safety laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Expertise in hazardous material management, risk assessment, and safe work protocols.
- Skilled in data analysis, incident documentation, and tracking safety performance metrics.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace software tools.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Proven abilities in managing safety programs, teams, and project safety execution.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Safety Management, or a relevant field.
- Possession of recognized Occupational Health and Safety certifications including the NEBOSH International General Certificate (mandatory).
- A valid UAE driving license is required.
