The group helps customers improve the way they live, learn, work, and enjoy life by supplying the newest technology, consumer electronics, home entertainment products, and appliances at strong value.
With more than 300 stores, an online presence, and a commercial arm through JB Hi-Fi Business, the company offers major brands, attractive pricing, and a strong service ethos. It is also part of a broader retail group that includes JB Hi-Fi Australia, JB Hi-Fi New Zealand, The Good Guys, and E&S Trading.
Role overview
The Health and Safety Advisor will report to the Health and Safety Team Lead and support safety and risk management across the business to help build and maintain a proactive safety management system.
This position is based in Western Australia and is mainly field-based, with 3 to 4 days each week spent visiting stores. The role also allows flexibility to work from stores and from home.
What the role involves
- Support the creation and rollout of policies, procedures, and initiatives that lower safety risks, limit financial exposure, strengthen compliance, and improve safety performance over time.
- Help design and deliver information, training, and coaching that raise awareness of legislation and responsibilities among key stakeholders.
- Offer practical advice on workplace health and safety and work with operational teams to identify hazards and apply effective controls.
- Take the lead on investigations into incidents and injuries, ensuring meaningful corrective actions and ongoing improvement.
- Carry out workplace inspections and safety observations across business locations.
- Build strong engagement with store teams across multiple sites to support safety activities, projects, and key objectives.
- Maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders across the business.
- Track safety performance and manage incidents and hazards within assigned business areas.
- Identify risks early, prevent incidents, and put appropriate controls in place to meet legal requirements.
- Prepare data and statistics for monthly safety reporting.
- Work closely with the Safety Coordinator to ensure safety standards, risk assessments, audits, training, investigations, and corrective actions meet each state’s legislative requirements.
- Contribute to ad hoc projects as needed.
What we’re looking for
The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of experience in a role with significant health and safety responsibilities. Tertiary qualifications in Work Health & Safety, or progress toward one, are preferred. Experience in retail is an advantage.
You should be confident influencing leaders, engaging teams, and helping safety become part of daily operations. Strong risk management capability, including safety assessments and practical control recommendations, is important.
A solid understanding of Occupational Health and Safety legislation, regulations, and relevant governing bodies is required, along with strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Experience in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementing workable solutions will be highly valued.
