Position Details
Title: Health Promotion Coordinator
Status: Full-time support staff
Schedule: 35 hours per week; the posting also notes 37.5 hours per week
Department: Student Wellness and Equitable Learning (SWEL) - Health Promotion Unit
Location: North Campus four days per week and Lakeshore Campus one day per week, with work hours from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The role is entirely in person and may occasionally require evenings and weekends to support departmental needs such as Open House. Operational hours run from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. There is also an option for a compressed work week of four days, working 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Pay: Payband H, with a salary range of $37.34 to $43.18 per hour. The starting rate is $37.34, and movement through the range follows the Full-Time Support Staff Collective Agreement based on actual service in the payband.
About SWEL
The Student Wellness and Equitable Learning department supports a welcoming and inclusive environment where students can succeed. Its cross-functional team covers Student Connection and Community Care, Residence Life and Education, Accessible Learning Services, Mental Health and Counselling, Health Services, and Health Promotion. In this role, the successful candidate will join the Health Promotion team and help strengthen prevention and early intervention efforts, build institutional capacity, and equip learners with the knowledge to make informed choices about health and well-being.
Role Summary
Reporting to the Manager of Health Promotion, the coordinator supports student mental health and well-being by planning, delivering, and reviewing educational workshops and outreach activities. The position calls for a collaborative educator who can coordinate programs, support engagement efforts, and help ensure that health promotion work is grounded in trauma-informed, culturally safe, and anti-oppressive practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver evidence-based wellness workshops, outreach initiatives, and related programming that aligns with Humber’s Well-being Strategy.
- Work with colleagues to assess student needs and roll out initiatives covering mental health, sexual health, substance use, sleep, and social connection.
- Support and facilitate educational sessions for students and employees, such as Recognize, Respond and Support Learners in Distress and Bringing in the Bystander, while ensuring programming is logistically sound and grounded in trauma-informed, culturally safe, and anti-oppressive approaches.
- Organize outreach activities such as Orientation, Service Fairs, and Open House by identifying representatives, choosing materials and incentives, creating interactive activities, and developing evaluation methods to assess effectiveness.
- Identify appropriate campus spaces for outreach and engagement events.
- Help manage health promotion supplies and inventory within budget, keeping materials organized, stocked, and ready for program use.
- Support divisional initiatives such as Take Back the Night and Humber Let’s Talk, collaborate with SWEL colleagues and external partners, and participate in committees and task groups that advance health promotion goals.
- Gather, organize, and interpret service-user data to spot improvement opportunities and strengthen the quality of health promotion work.

Education
- Completion of a three-year diploma or degree, or an equivalent credential, in a field related to the role such as education, psychology, public health, health promotion, or social work.
Experience and Skills
- At least 2 years of experience coordinating or delivering health promotion, wellness, or student engagement programs in a post-secondary, public health, or community setting.
- Experience facilitating workshops and coordinating events.
- Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate programs effectively.
- Practical understanding of health promotion and student development theories.
- Comfort using digital, social, and traditional communications channels.
- Experience building partnerships with campus and community stakeholders.
- Strong ability to create collaborative relationships with students.
- Knowledge of the Okanagan Charter, Stepped Care 2.0, and the National Standard of Canada for Mental Health and Well-being for Postsecondary Students is an asset.
- Certification in safeTALK, ASIST, and Bystander Intervention Training is an asset.
