Job description

About the role

Alignerr works with leading AI research labs to improve the safety and quality of advanced AI systems. This contract opportunity is for a public health professional who can apply graduate-level expertise to help train and evaluate AI models in the areas of population health, epidemiology, health equity, and health policy.

This is a fully remote and flexible role. Your subject-matter knowledge will directly influence AI tools that may eventually be used by large audiences for health-related guidance. Prior AI experience is not required; the company will provide the necessary training on the workflow.

What you will do

  • Develop complex, realistic public health scenarios such as outbreak modeling, health equity evaluations, biostatistics interpretation exercises, and policy analysis tasks.
  • Create detailed, well-supported solutions that draw on peer-reviewed evidence, epidemiological data, and recognized standards from organizations such as the CDC and WHO.
  • Review AI-generated responses for correctness, bias, internal consistency, and alignment with ethical expectations.
  • Give structured expert feedback that improves how AI systems separate correlation from causation, explain health risks, and communicate appropriately to diverse communities.

Requirements

  • A graduate qualification in Public Health, such as an MPH or MSPH, or a closely related discipline.
  • Solid grounding in at least two areas among epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental health, and health policy.
  • Ability to turn complex health data into clear, evidence-based, and culturally aware written content.
  • Strong precision and attention to detail, especially when handling statistical significance, citations, and intervention logic.
  • No previous AI background is necessary.

Preferred background

  • Experience with data annotation, quality assurance, or evaluation processes.
  • Working knowledge of analytical tools such as R, SAS, or Stata.
  • Exposure to health communication, clinical research coordination, or public health surveillance.

Work arrangement

This position is fully remote and flexible, with an expected commitment of 10 to 40 hours per week. The contractor structure allows you to work independently and manage your own pace.

Why this role stands out

  • You will work on advanced AI systems at the cutting edge of model development.
  • The schedule can be adapted to fit your availability.
  • The role offers substantial autonomy as an independent contractor.
  • Your contributions help make AI-driven health information more accurate, unbiased, and evidence-based.
  • High-performing contractors may be considered for additional and ongoing work.
