Role overview

This full-time county contractual role sits within the Administration bureau, specifically the Office of Assessment and Planning. Reporting to the Director of the Office of Assessment and Planning, the Health Planner will help shape, carry out, track, and report on key agency plans and initiatives. These include the agency Strategic Plan, the Gun Violence Intervention Team (GVIT) Strategic Plan, and local health improvement plans.

What you will do

The position focuses heavily on planning, research, analysis, and policy development, especially in areas connected to community gun violence. The selected candidate will also support the interpretation of federal and state guidance related to gun violence, coordinate and facilitate meetings, pursue funding opportunities for GVIT work, manage GVIT grant funds, and prepare reports and related records. In addition, the role involves creating tracking systems and evaluation tools to measure plan effectiveness and providing technical assistance to help put the agency’s plans into action.

Location and schedule

The job is based at 3 Harry S. Truman Parkway, Annapolis, MD 21401. Working hours are 40 per week.

Pay and benefits

The annual salary range for this role is $62,200 to $67,600. Benefits include access to the County group health plan with prescription, dental, and vision coverage, along with paid holidays and sick leave. Employees may also join an optional deferred compensation program at their own cost.

Education and experience

A bachelor’s degree is required in health planning, public health, health science, hospital administration, healthcare administration, or a closely related discipline from an accredited college or university. Candidates should have at least one year of experience in health planning, or alternatively a master’s degree from an accredited college or university in one of the listed fields. A master’s degree in one of these areas is preferred, as is experience in local health department planning, community health planning, or violence interruption planning.
