About the Role and Workplace

Become an essential part of protecting patient data and confidentiality by joining the Health Information & Records Service at Westmead Hospital, a leading tertiary care center within the Western Sydney Local Health District. This permanent part-time position involves working in a collaborative atmosphere focused on supporting patient care, legal compliance, and information governance.

Key Duties

  • Handle and process Release of Information (ROI) requests from a broad spectrum of sources, including patients, legal offices, courts, police, insurers, coronial services, healthcare providers, and internal staff.
  • Examine and extract pertinent data from both electronic and physical health records while ensuring compliance with NSW Health laws and organizational policies.
  • Interact effectively with patients, hospital personnel, and external organizations to ensure prompt and accurate responses and address inquiries.
  • Maintain comprehensive records and utilize corporate management systems such as HPRM for tracking requests and documentation.
  • Monitor deadlines to meet performance metrics, contribute to audits, reporting, and continuous service quality within the team.

Working Details

This role requires 21 hours per week, working from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with mandatory availability on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Other working days are flexible through negotiation. The position is based at Westmead Hospital and classified as Administration Officer Level 3, offering an hourly wage between $32.27 and $38.44 AUD.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Firm understanding of patient privacy, ROI policies, and health record workflows.
  • Strong organizational talents with the capability to prioritize tasks and perform efficiently under pressure.
  • A proactive team player with a dedicated work ethic and self-motivation.
  • Competency with various software applications and exceptional computer skills.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail and deliver accurate work.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Capacity to operate with minimal supervision and independently take initiative.
  • Willingness to work across multiple sites within the Western Sydney Local Health District as necessary.
