Job description
About Workit Health
Workit Health provides telemedicine care that is available when people need it and is grounded in evidence-based, harm-reduction principles. Its programs combine licensed clinicians, FDA-approved medications, online recovery groups, community support, interactive therapeutic learning, and care for co-occurring conditions. The company’s patient-centered approach helps improve outcomes and reduce obstacles to treatment, making recovery more accessible without forcing people to interrupt their daily routines.
The organization is expanding its reach and team as its impact continues to grow. It is looking for people who are committed to a mission of making high-quality, nonjudgmental addiction care easier to access. The goal is to help reduce stigma, support lives in recovery, and reshape how addiction treatment is delivered in the United States.
Role Summary
In this role, you will be the main contact for release-of-information and medical-record requests within the Member Experience team. You will identify the type of request, process it correctly, and protect confidentiality at every step. Success in this position depends on strong organization, accuracy, attention to detail, timely execution, and a clear understanding of policies and regulatory obligations. You will help ensure both internal and external record requests are handled in compliance with state and federal requirements.
What You'll Do
- Receive, sort, and process records requests while following confidentiality laws and regulations, including 42 CFR Part 2 and rules related to substance use treatment records.
- Keep patient privacy and safeguarding practices at the center of every interaction involving health information.
- Act as a knowledgeable resource for clinical documentation matters and support training and quality improvement work connected to HIM.
- Apply company policies and procedures consistently and in line with compliance expectations.
- Communicate clearly, kindly, and collaboratively with both internal teams and external requestors.
- Record all requests and responses accurately and on time.
- Handle sensitive record corrections and related updates within regulatory boundaries.
- Support a positive workplace environment at Workit Health.
- Take on additional responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- An associate or bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Health Administration, or a similar field is preferred.
- RHIT, RHIA, or another relevant HIM certification is preferred, or you should be willing to earn one within one year of joining.
- At least 1–2 years of experience in health information management, medical records handling, or a comparable healthcare administrative role is preferred.
- Prior work with sensitive health data, especially substance use treatment records and 42 CFR Part 2 compliance, is strongly preferred.
- Experience using electronic health record systems and document management tools is needed.
- You should be comfortable interpreting and applying HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and other applicable state and federal confidentiality rules in real time.
- You must be able to follow compliance policies and procedures accurately while processing requests and documentation.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is USD 23 to USD 24 per hour.
