About the Role

We are looking for a dedicated Health Care Assistant to join the New Spenser Ward at St Peter’s Hospital, Chertsey. This is a 20-bed acute inpatient assessment unit focused on older adults with functional mental health conditions. The ward offers a stimulating, supportive environment where a multidisciplinary team collaboratively works to provide high-quality, person-centred care. Your role will be vital in meeting the needs of patients, aiding their care journey and recovery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver care to patients as outlined by multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings.
  • Adhere to and implement principles of the Mental Health Act (MHA) in your work.
  • Ensure effective communication through telephone and personal contact.
  • Provide physical support with daily living activities including personal hygiene, nutrition and hydration, dressing and laundry, environment upkeep, elimination, sleep maintenance, activity participation, and monitor physical health.
  • Participate actively in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care.
  • Maintain professional and supportive relationships with colleagues, other professionals, and involved agencies to promote patient recovery.
  • Accompany patients as needed under the supervision of nursing staff.
