Overview

Orchard Care Group Ireland is expanding its services in Waterford City, offering both full-time and part-time Health Care Assistant positions within its Orchard Community Care division. This role involves participating in daily routines and activities of care, providing direct support to service users, handling administrative tasks, and performing household duties. The position requires teamwork in an innovative environment and adherence to HIQA standards.

Work Schedule

Services operate continuously throughout the year, 24/7, requiring shifts including sleep-in and waking night duties. Flexibility regarding working hours may occasionally be necessary.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Applicants must possess a QQI Level 5 Healthcare qualification or an equivalent credential.
  • At least one year of experience with adults or children who have intellectual and physical disabilities is required.
  • Knowledge of working with individuals with complex needs is essential.
  • A full manual driving license valid in Ireland is mandatory.
  • Applicants must have the legal right to live and work in Ireland.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the care and activities of children or adults, following integrated care plans and managerial instructions.
  • Respect and prioritise the individual needs and comfort of service users and their families.
  • Advocate for service users, ensuring they and their families receive appropriate support and information.
  • Encourage and support social interaction on individual and group levels.
  • Maintain awareness and safe handling of care equipment.
  • Engage actively in all communication channels, including meetings and emails.
  • Provide personal care as needed.
  • Uphold confidentiality of service users and organisation at all times.
  • Be prepared to work flexible shifts within a roster system.
