Job Summary

The Health Care Aide/Personal Support Worker will function as a key member of the home care team, operating under the guidance of the Care Coordinator. The role involves delivering various personal care and support services tailored to clients’ needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting with personal hygiene and care routines
• Preparing meals for clients
• Performing light housekeeping tasks
• Escorting clients during outings
• Running shopping errands
• Providing medication reminders and assistance
• Helping with ambulation and transporting clients
• Offering companionship and emotional support
• Adhering to individualized care plans
• Maintaining accurate documentation and charting

Qualifications

• Possession of a Personal Support Worker Certificate or equivalent credentials (including foreign-trained nurses or nursing students)
• Current CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain it
• Negative Tuberculosis skin test or chest x-ray results
• Residency in or near Guelph, Ontario with ability to travel locally
• Reliable access to the internet and a mobile phone
• Preference for male caregivers due to client-specific requirements
• Comfortable around pets such as dogs
• Valid Canadian driver’s license and ownership of a personal vehicle for work purposes
