Overview
Tetra Tech is inviting qualified professionals to join as a Health and Safety Officer, playing a key role in supporting and executing prominent public and private sector infrastructure projects in Ireland. This position involves active participation as part of the Health & Safety team within RPS, focusing on maintaining and enhancing the company's Health & Safety Management Systems. The role offers a hybrid work arrangement with office locations available in Dublin, Galway, and Cork.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP) and Health & Safety Coordinator for design phases as per the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013.
- Manage PSDP projects including client liaison, coordination, ensuring completion within timelines, budget, and project scope.
- Provide expert advice on compliance with health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
- Deliver technical guidance and leadership to clients and design teams.
- Prepare and oversee project-specific health and safety documentation such as Preliminary Safety and Health Plans and Safety Files.
- Oversee occupational health and safety processes within the engineering consultancy environment.
Candidate Profile
- Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of construction health and safety regulations and applicable procedures.
- Capable of acting as a competent PSDP under the Safety, Health & Welfare Act 2005 and related construction regulations.
- Possesses a minimum of eight years in building or civil engineering infrastructure projects with hands-on experience in safety management and roles like Project Supervisor Design Process and/or Construction Stage.
- Experienced with OHSAS 18001, ISO 45001, or comparable safety management frameworks.
- Proficient in drafting and evaluating Risk Assessments, Design Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work, and Safety & Health plans.
- Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel, combined with effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
Educational and Professional Qualifications
- Holds a Diploma, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Health & Safety, preferably related to Construction Health & Safety.
- Preferably has a degree in Engineering or a related design field coupled with recognized Health & Safety training.
- Membership or progress towards membership in professional organizations such as Engineers Ireland, IOSH, or related bodies is advantageous.
