Role Purpose
The Health and Safety Officer acts as the essential intermediary between supervisors and workforce to ensure protection of lives and assets. The position entails enforcing safety policies, guaranteeing compliance on-site, identifying and responding to safety risks, and minimizing hazards to uphold a secure work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to local occupational safety laws and internal company protocols.
- Implement safety and security directives effectively.
- Monitor workplace conditions and promptly communicate any safety risks or issues.
- Supervise the availability and appropriate usage of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other safety gear.
- Enforce safety procedures among all workers to maintain regulatory compliance.
- Conduct and regularly update risk assessments across all job sites and activities.
- Inspect and evaluate safety conditions of machinery, tools, and equipment routinely.
- Carry out regular checks on worksites, emergency exits, and fire safety systems.
- Ensure the execution of approved safety policies and strategic plans.
- Provide safety training to newly engaged employees tailored to their job functions.
- Investigate workplace incidents to determine causes, document findings, and recommend corrective measures.
- Maintain comprehensive safety documentation, attend to complaints, and pursue ongoing improvements to the working environment.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum education: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or closely related discipline.
- Experience range: 0 to 2 years.
Required Skills
- Understanding of Saudi Arabian health, safety, and environment (HSE) legislation and standards.
- Competence in delivering safety training sessions effectively.
- Proficient in technical report writing and preparing safety documents.
- Strong attention to detail and precision.
- Capacity to perform well under pressure and in field conditions.
- Experience with HSE management systems and safety-related software applications.
