Role Overview
Glebe Builders is looking to hire an experienced and proactive Health and Safety Manager to lead safety management across several active construction projects in Donegal. This pivotal leadership position is charged with upholding exemplary safety standards and nurturing a robust safety culture within the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee health and safety protocols across multiple ongoing construction sites.
- Ensure strict adherence to Irish health and safety laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Conduct routine site audits, inspections, and comprehensive risk assessments.
- Monitor site safety observations and guarantee timely completion of corrective measures.
- Lead thorough investigations into incidents, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate closely with site managers and teams to uphold superior safety standards on all projects.
- Advocate a practical, firm yet equitable health and safety management style.
- Drive ongoing improvements in health and safety performance and standards.
- Prepare and maintain detailed health and safety documentation and reporting materials.
Candidate Requirements
- At least five years’ relevant experience in health and safety within the construction industry.
- Proven history of operating as a Health and Safety Manager on active construction sites.
- Possession of a recognized third-level qualification in Health and Safety or Environmental Health and Safety at level 7/8 or above.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Irish health and safety legislation and construction site operations.
- Competence in performing audits, inspections, and follow-up actions across multiple locations.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to handle interactions confidently with site teams and subcontractors.
- A proactive, pragmatic approach characterized by firmness, consistency, and fairness.
- Strong organizational, reporting, and interpersonal skills.
- Valid full driving license is mandatory.
