About the Role
Located at Etqan Global Academy in Doha, Qatar, Nord Anglia Education is seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Manager to uphold and enhance the school's health and safety practices. This position is responsible for ensuring a secure, compliant, and efficiently managed environment for students, staff, visitors, and contractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and drive the implementation of the school's health and safety management system, ensuring all policies and procedures are clearly understood and effectively executed.
- Offer practical guidance and advice on health and safety matters to school leadership, operations, facilities, and teaching personnel.
- Manage and update risk assessments related to school activities, facilities, educational trips, events, and contractors.
- Conduct routine health and safety inspections and audits throughout the school premises.
- Lead or assist in investigating incidents and near misses, identifying root causes, and developing corrective measures.
- Support the creation and practice of emergency procedures such as fire evacuations, lockdown protocols, and medical emergencies.
- Deliver health and safety inductions, training sessions, and raise awareness among staff and contractors.
- Supervise contractor health and safety compliance and monitor their activities onsite.
- Provide regular reports regarding health and safety performance to school and regional leaders.
Candidate Requirements
- Possession of relevant qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety or comparable experience, for example, NEBOSH International General Certificate.
- Previous experience in a health and safety role, ideally within educational settings, facilities management, hospitality, or healthcare sectors.
- Comprehensive knowledge of risk assessment, site inspections, incident investigation, and corrective action protocols.
- Effective communication and organizational skills capable of engaging with diverse stakeholders in an educational context.
- Proficiency in IT skills necessary for maintaining detailed and accurate records.
- Additional certifications such as IOSH Managing Safely, First Aid, or Fire Safety training are advantageous.
- Experience working in Qatar or Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries is desirable.
