Job description
Position Overview
We are seeking proactive Graduate Health and Safety Officers to join our dedicated Health and Safety Team in an 18-month fixed-term role based on site with Cairn Homes.
Key Duties
- Collaborate closely with the Cairn Homes construction management team to foster a safe and efficient working environment.
- Continuously strive to enhance the Health and Safety standards within the company’s management system and at individual sites.
- Oversee and enforce the adherence to Cairn Homes’ Health and Safety Management System.
- Identify hazards specific to each site and ensure they are comprehensively reflected in site documentation and addressed practically at the location.
- Maintain clear communication channels with the Health & Safety Manager.
- Monitor site folders and legal health and safety records to guarantee proper maintenance onsite.
- Ensure all contractors strictly follow site safety regulations.
- Support site management in meeting statutory Health & Safety obligations.
- Assist the Health & Safety Manager in developing risk assessments and refining Safe Systems of Work for Cairn Homes.
- Help ensure contractor compliance across Cairn Homes project sites.
- Work alongside the Health & Safety Manager and site management to coordinate safe working systems for contractors.
- Implement site-specific disciplinary procedures when needed.
- Conduct Health & Safety audits on site, working with management and contractors to rectify any non-conformities.
- Participate in accident and incident investigations to improve safety practices.
- Contribute to the creation, discussion, and delivery of Toolbox Talks.
Candidate Profile
- Holds a third-level qualification in Health & Safety.
- Prior relevant work experience is advantageous.
- Open to attending training sessions to foster knowledge, skills, and techniques.
- Demonstrates strong analytical capabilities and can effectively present outcomes.
- Exhibits excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Methodical with keen attention to detail and accuracy.
- Able to collaborate effectively with individuals at various organizational levels and function well in a team setting.
- Self-driven with the capacity to work independently.
- Capable of juggling multiple projects simultaneously.
- Willing to take ownership and responsibility for assigned tasks.
