Role overview
Kiernan Engineering is hiring a Project Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor for a project based in Cork. This position focuses on helping Project Managers and other site personnel set up, apply, and continuously improve health, safety, and environmental systems in line with the company’s safety and environmental management standards.
Key responsibilities
- Encourage safe work methods and make sure company HSE policies and procedures are followed across the site.
- Perform routine HSE inspections on site and communicate the findings to the appropriate people.
- Check that the project has all required HSE documents in place.
- Verify that project HSE plans are aligned with company standards.
- Ensure HSE matters are reviewed during project meetings.
- Maintain accurate records that meet internal and external audit requirements.
- Deliver health, safety, and environmental training when needed and agreed with the Project Manager.
- Stay current with relevant health, safety, and environmental laws and regulations.
- Promote Kiernan Engineering’s HSE values, approach, and culture.
- Lead by example and act as a model for safe behaviour.
- Take on additional related duties as required from time to time.
- Work with the relevant statutory bodies, including the H.S.A and EPA.
- Investigate accidents and dangerous incidents thoroughly and submit reports to the HSE & Sustainability Manager, including causes, outcomes, and preventive recommendations.
- Provide the HSE department with relevant information on a quarterly basis.
Requirements
- Level 7 qualification in Health and Safety.
- 1 to 2 years of post-graduate experience in project HSE management.
- Working knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
- Ability to deliver internal health and safety management training is an advantage.
- Comfortable advising on day-to-day HSE matters on site.
- Capable of carrying out standard accident and incident investigations.
- Able to prepare written HSE site reports.
