Head Rigger - Events

Role Overview

Reson8 Audio Visual Services is looking for a seasoned Rigging Lead to handle full-time event assignments in Qatar. This position suits a hands-on professional who can oversee safe, efficient rigging delivery across live event environments and maintain high production standards.

The role calls for strong practical knowledge of event rigging, truss assemblies, motors, hoists, load calculations, venue coordination, and safe installation methods. You should be able to guide on-site rigging teams while working closely with production and technical teams to ensure every installation is completed safely and on schedule.

Familiarity with Vectorworks and CAD drawings is expected, along with valid safety certifications for working at height. A current Cherry Picker / MEWP operator license would be a strong advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Take the lead on rigging work for events, exhibitions, conferences, live shows, and temporary structures.
• Supervise rigging crew members during setup, rehearsals, show days, and strike.
• Interpret rigging plots, load plans, truss arrangements, venue drawings, and technical documents accurately.
• Coordinate closely with production managers, technical managers, venue personnel, suppliers, safety staff, and other technical teams.
• Oversee installation of truss, motors, hoists, rigging points, chain blocks, mother grids, banners, LED support systems, lighting rigs, PA hangs, scenic structures, and temporary event builds.
• Assist with marking rigging points, checking trim heights, understanding load distribution, and confirming safe installation practices.
• Make sure all rigging work aligns with approved safety requirements, client expectations, venue rules, and project instructions.
• Carry out pre-rig inspections, daily checks, toolbox talks, and final safety sign-offs before handover.
• Look after rigging tools, equipment, accessories, and inventory documentation.
• Spot on-site risks and implement practical, safe solutions.
• Support planning activities, manpower allocation, execution schedules, and dismantling plans.
• Work in coordination with AV, lighting, video, LED, scenic, staging, fabrication, and production teams.
• Ensure all rigging tasks follow local safety regulations and company standards.

Experience and Skills

Applicants should bring 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in event rigging, live production, exhibitions, or temporary event structures. Prior exposure to event projects in Qatar or the GCC region is preferred.

Strong technical knowledge is needed in truss systems, motors, hoists, rigging hardware, lifting equipment, chain blocks, shackles, slings, spansets, steels, and temporary structures. You should also be comfortable reading rigging drawings, load charts, technical plans, production layouts, and venue drawings.

Experience working alongside AV, lighting, LED, scenic, staging, fabrication, and production teams is important. The role also requires solid leadership on site, good team coordination, strong communication in English, and the ability to perform well under pressure and tight timelines.

Certifications and Licenses

• A valid Working at Height certification is mandatory.
• Rigging, lifting, or safety-related certification is preferred.
• A valid Cherry Picker / MEWP operator license is highly preferred.
• Any additional certification for safety or equipment operation will be considered an advantage.
