Role Overview

The Head of Traffic & Transportation Services leads strategic, technical, operational, and commercial aspects within the Traffic & Transportation segment of the Engineering Consulting Services business. This role is central to ensuring exemplary delivery, technical quality, client satisfaction, growth, and governance across traffic engineering, transport planning, mobility, and intelligent transport system projects linked to major infrastructure and urban development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead full project delivery of traffic and transportation engineering services including transport planning, impact studies, traffic modeling, road and traffic safety, public transport planning, traffic operations, and ITS.
• Guarantee compliance with contractual terms, regulatory authority standards, and international best practices.
• Establish rigorous technical assurance processes, such as peer reviews, independent checks, and approval gates.
• Supervise quality control on traffic modeling outputs like micro and macro simulations, junction analyses, and corridor studies.
• Ensure adherence to Abu Dhabi and UAE authority directives (e.g., DOT, ITC, ADM, RTA).
• Enhance portfolio governance encompassing scope, schedule, cost, risk, and change management.
• Institutionalize knowledge transfer and lessons learned to promote consistency and delivery excellence.
• Develop and broaden service offerings spanning traffic engineering, operations, safety, planning, mobility strategy, public transport, and ITS.
• Introduce innovative concepts such as smart mobility, sustainable transport, and data-driven traffic management.
• Formulate service roadmaps defining methodologies, standards, tools, and capability needs.
• Spot emerging mobility trends, including electric vehicle integration, autonomous systems, and multimodal transport.
• Create new advisory services aligned with governmental mobility transformation initiatives.
• Serve as the senior technical liaison for key stakeholders including government transport authorities and master developers.
• Represent the service division in executive meetings, steering committees, and governance forums.
• Manage regulatory relationships ensuring smooth project approval processes.
• Lead resolution of significant technical issues and stakeholder escalations.
• Implement structured communication protocols with progress reports, dashboards, and executive briefings.
• Maintain alignment with client transport policies and urban mobility visions.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team of transport planners, engineers, modellers, and ITS specialists.
• Drive recruitment, succession planning, and upskilling to meet business expansion ambitions.
• Promote a culture of technical excellence, innovation, accountability, and teamwork.
• Encourage continuous learning in transport modeling tools, simulation platforms, and new mobility technologies.
• Enhance cross-functional cooperation with civil, infrastructure, and master planning groups.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation Engineering or related field; a master's degree is advantageous.
• Over 15 years of progressive experience in traffic and transportation engineering and planning roles.
• Proven leadership managing multidisciplinary transport planning teams within consulting environments.
• Strong knowledge of UAE/GCC transport authority standards and project approval procedures.
• Expertise in traffic modeling software such as VISSIM, SYNCHRO, SIDRA, AIMSUN, TransCAD, or equivalents.
• Experienced in managing stakeholders including government agencies and developers.
• Demonstrated capability to lead large-scale transport master planning and infrastructure projects.
• Commercial acumen with experience in bidding and project financial oversight.

• Salary: AED 50,000 per month (dependent on skills and experience)
