Job description
About the Company
Bybit, founded in 2018, is a major global digital-asset exchange and financial technology platform. It supports more than 80 million users across over 200 countries and regions, offering an integrated ecosystem that spans trading, payments, wealth services, custody, institutional offerings, and Web3.
The company operates with a customer-first approach and is guided by values centered on listening, caring, and continuous improvement. Backed by a worldwide team of builders and innovators, Bybit emphasizes speed, high performance, and meaningful impact at a global scale. Its 24/7 multilingual support and innovation-led mindset continue to strengthen its position in the digital finance sector.
Bybit is expanding its global footprint while developing the infrastructure for the next generation of financial services.
Role Overview
This senior leadership position is focused on advancing Bybit’s core trading technology toward exchange infrastructure standards associated with major financial venues such as CME and Nasdaq. The mandate is to build systems that are ultra-low latency, deterministic, resilient, auditable, risk-aware, and designed to meet regulatory expectations from the start.
The role carries broad responsibility for the architecture, performance, resilience, and institutional readiness of the company’s global exchange infrastructure. It is best suited to a leader who has worked on mission-critical trading systems in exchanges, broker-dealers, HFT firms, market makers, clearing organizations, or comparable financial market infrastructure environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Set the long-term technical direction for core trading infrastructure, covering order entry, pre-trade controls, matching, post-trade processing, market data, replay, audit trails, and disaster recovery.
- Improve and scale ultra-low-latency trading systems so they remain deterministic and stable at p99 and p99.9 even during extreme market activity.
- Create a common system design and operating model across spot, margin, perpetuals, futures, options, unified accounts, portfolio margin, and institutional APIs.
- Develop exchange infrastructure that is ready for regulated environments, with deterministic replay, traceable audit logs, sequence recovery, operational controls, and strong production governance.
- Own the architecture for exchange-grade risk controls, including pre-trade validation, fat-finger safeguards, price collars, self-trade prevention, kill switches, throttling, position and margin limits, and cancel-on-disconnect handling.
- Define performance engineering practices across the trading stack, including latency measurement, packet-level tracing, replay-based testing, and certification for production use.
- Lead architecture evaluations, incident analysis, resilience exercises, capacity planning, and readiness reviews for systems that are critical to trading operations.
- Work closely with product, compliance, security, institutional business, risk, and regional regulatory teams to support expansion into regulated markets worldwide.
- Hire, coach, and grow a high-caliber trading technology team spanning low-latency engineering, distributed systems, market data platforms, and risk systems.
Requirements
- At least 15 years of experience in trading technology, exchange infrastructure, HFT, market making, clearing, or financial market infrastructure.
- At least 5 years in leadership roles, including senior engineering management or ownership of architecture for mission-critical trading platforms.
- Strong knowledge of electronic trading and exchange market structure, including matching engines, order lifecycle management, market data systems, replay and recovery, trade capture and reconciliation, and deterministic matching.
- Practical technical expertise in C++, Linux, networking, concurrency, low-latency system design, memory optimization, lock-free programming, binary protocols, and tail-latency tuning.
- Experience building highly resilient, observable, replayable, and auditable systems in regulated or institution-grade environments.
- Ability to operate comfortably at both executive and deep technical levels while influencing senior stakeholders across engineering, business, compliance, and risk.
Preferred Background
- Exposure to exchange matching engines, OMS/EMS platforms, DMA systems, clearing, or post-trade processing.
- Familiarity with FIX, FIXP, SBE, OUCH, and ITCH protocols.
- Experience with multicast market data and replay tooling.
- Knowledge of PTP / IEEE 1588, DPDK, RDMA, and FPGA-aware system design.
- Background in pre-trade risk controls and market-access frameworks.
- Experience with high-availability trading systems and disaster recovery design.
- Exposure to institutional audit and surveillance systems.
Why Join Bybit
- Study Growth Fund to support professional development and ongoing learning.
- Regular internal events, workshops, and team-building activities that encourage collaboration and innovation.
- Opportunity to work with a diverse global team across regions.
- Strong career growth potential within a fast-expanding international company.
- Internal mobility options to help build long-term career progression.
Additional Information
The role is based in Abu Dhabi or Malaysia and is a full-time, on-site position.
This is a strategic leadership role intended for someone who can help build regulated digital-asset market infrastructure with strong technical depth, operational discipline, and readiness for global scale.
