Job description

About Raya Power

Raya Power is pioneering a distributed energy future by building the largest appliance-level energy network combining solar and storage that installs within three hours without permits, pays for itself immediately, and transforms homes into interconnected grid nodes. This solution targets hundreds of millions of residences unsuitable for rooftop solar, including renters, older properties, and communities vulnerable to power outages. Founded by women and currently in seed-stage, Raya is launching commercially this year.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Head of Supply Chain & Procurement to design and manage the end-to-end operational framework ensuring our energy pods are sourced, manufactured, and delivered effectively. The role, full-time and remote with a preference for San Juan, Puerto Rico, requires 10–30% travel with a targeted start in Q3 2026. You will be instrumental in architecting a scalable and resilient supply chain critical to making our hardware affordable and dependable, collaborating closely with hardware engineering, manufacturing, and business development teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source and qualify suppliers for all major Bill of Materials (BOM) components, fostering a diversified and robust supplier base.
  • Manage vendor relationships, including performance evaluation, accountability for quality, cost, and delivery deadlines.
  • Lead supplier contract negotiations covering pricing, lead times, minimum order quantities, and terms to secure long-term agreements that safeguard company interests during scaling.
  • Handle import/export logistics, tariffs, and related regulatory matters to optimize landed costs and ensure compliance with international trade requirements.
  • Maintain a dynamic cost model for BOM components, partnering with hardware engineering to identify cost-reduction opportunities and track savings.
  • Oversee order management from purchase placement to delivery, guaranteeing real-time visibility into order progress across suppliers.
  • Develop and implement inventory and ordering systems for real-time tracking and automated reorder triggers supporting scaling operations.
  • Identify and qualify alternative suppliers for critical parts to mitigate risks associated with single-source dependencies.
  • Coordinate closely with manufacturing to align component supply, inventory, and lead times with production schedules, managing freight and warehousing transitions to the assembly facility.
  • Ensure component availability and timely delivery to support pilot deployments and assembly schedules.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years' experience in supply chain, procurement, or operations, preferably within hardware, consumer electronics, or manufacturing sectors.
  • Practical expertise in supplier sourcing, contract negotiation, and vendor relationship management.
  • Well-versed in managing cross-border procurement processes, including import/export logistics, Incoterms, customs, and tariff regulation.
  • Proficient in establishing and overseeing inventory and order management systems.
  • Strong negotiation abilities demonstrated through successful supplier contracts and strategic leverage creation.
  • Data-oriented approach to managing BOM cost models, variance tracking, and informed sourcing decisions.
  • Prior experience in startup or early-stage environments, including building supply chain processes from the ground up.
  • Excellent communication skills across engineering, operations, and finance disciplines.
  • Flexibility in working hours to coordinate regularly with suppliers in China time zones.

Additional Advantages

  • Experience with clean energy hardware supply chains, particularly solar and battery storage.
  • Knowledge of tariff classifications (HTS codes) and customs compliance requirements.
  • Background working with Asian manufacturers, especially in China or Taiwan, including managing time zones, conducting factory audits, and quality assurance processes.
  • Proficiency in Mandarin to facilitate supplier interactions in China.
  • Spanish language skills beneficial due to operations in Puerto Rico and Latino markets.
  • Understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) informed procurement and its impact on component availability and pricing.

Ideal Profile

  • Passion for solving operational challenges involving bill of materials risk, vendor leverage, and scalable supply chains.
  • Capability to cultivate strong supplier relationships that prioritize company needs and ensure accountability through data-driven evaluation.
  • Proactive mindset anticipating tariff fluctuations, lead-time risks, and supply bottlenecks well in advance.
  • Mission-driven mentality emphasizing reliable and affordable energy access for underserved communities.

Compensation & Benefits

Competitive salary and equity package, with details shared early in the recruitment process.

  • Comprehensive health insurance fully covered by the company.
  • Flexible paid vacation policy encouraging at least three weeks of annual leave.
  • Flexible sick and wellness days trusting employees to manage their well-being.
  • Bereavement leave and support for significant life events, compliant with applicable family and medical leave regulations.
