Job description

About Raya Power

Raya Power envisions a future where energy is distributed directly through consumer appliances. Their innovative solar and storage system installs within three hours, requires no permits, begins to pay for itself immediately, and transforms every household into a valuable node of an expansive energy network. Targeting demographics often excluded from rooftop solar solutions such as renters, older homes, and communities vulnerable to power outages, Raya is a seed-stage, women-founded company preparing for commercial launch this year.

Role Overview

As the Executive Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the operational backbone of the organization—everything beyond product, hardware, and sales that ensures smooth internal functioning. This includes overseeing payroll, tax submissions, regulatory compliance, IT procurement, vendor invoice processing, and much more. Reporting directly to the founders and collaborating with all departments, you will establish systems and processes to support rapid growth and operational excellence across the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage HR and people operations including payroll, health and liability insurance, paid time off, benefits tracking, employee onboarding, and compliance with employment regulations.
  • Oversee regulatory, compliance, and legal requirements across operational markets, including Puerto Rico; liaise with external legal counsel for filings and contracts to proactively address emerging obligations.
  • Maintain relationships with external accountants and bookkeepers to ensure accurate financial records, timely tax filings, and financial transparency for stakeholders.
  • Develop and supervise accounts payable processes; handle vendor invoices, approve expenses, and manage recurring payments to prevent lapses.
  • Responsible for procurement, setup, and maintenance of IT equipment and software licenses; assist team members with technical issues and onboarding new technology tools.
  • Coordinate management of non-manufacturing physical spaces such as offices, coworking locations, and storage including lease administration and vendor relationships.
  • Create and maintain structured internal data systems, file organization, and documentation standards to ensure information is accessible and consistent as the team expands.
  • Provide executive and logistical support including calendar management, email triage, scheduling, and travel arrangements.

Candidate Profile

  • A minimum of five years’ experience in operations, business operations, executive assistance, or a similar multi-functional generalist role, preferably in early-stage startups.
  • Highly organized with a systems-oriented approach to ensure nothing is overlooked; strong proficiency in checklist-driven workflows.
  • Adaptable and efficient in a fast-moving startup environment, capable of juggling diverse responsibilities without losing focus.
  • Skilled at reprioritizing in response to urgent needs while continuing to advance ongoing tasks.
  • Proactive and self-motivated, taking initiative to identify and complete critical operational tasks independently.
  • Excellent communication abilities to connect and collaborate fluently with executives, investors, founders, business partners, and team members.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluency in Spanish is advantageous.
  • Experience utilizing AI-driven tools and automation to increase personal efficiency and output.
  • Background knowledge in energy, hardware, or climate technology sectors is a plus.

Ideal Traits

  • A strong sense of pride in maintaining smooth organizational operations, from insurance renewals to payroll and compliance.
  • Proactive tracking and management of deadlines, renewals, and ongoing tasks before issues arise.
  • Good judgment to discern when to resolve issues independently and when to escalate to founders or external experts.
  • Builds trust rapidly and is recognized as a dependable problem solver within the team.
  • Motivated by Raya's mission to provide affordable and reliable energy to underserved communities, understanding the critical role of internal operations in achieving this.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive salary package coupled with equity share in the company.
  • Comprehensive health insurance fully paid by the company.
  • Flexible paid vacation policy with an expectation of taking at least three weeks annually.
  • Generous sick and wellness days trusting employees to manage their health responsibly.
  • Leave policies inclusive of bereavement and support during major life events and compliance with paid family and medical leave laws.
  • Equipment stipends to empower employees to perform at their best.
