About the school and location

The Lockhart River Aboriginal Shire covers 354,000 hectares and includes pristine waterways, tropical beaches, and internationally significant rainforest areas known for rich biodiversity. The shire is on the east coast of Cape York Peninsula, around 800 km north of Cairns by road, and most residents belong to six traditional family groups. The school serves Kindy to Year 12 and has 137 students, with approximately 96% identifying as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
