Role overview
Nord Anglia Education is hiring a Head of Secondary for Etqan Global Academy (EGA), a newly founded IB World School in Doha, Qatar. This leadership role is focused on guiding the secondary division, strengthening academic performance, and building a culture rooted in ambition, inquiry, and global-mindedness.
What the role involves
- Set the strategic direction for the secondary school in alignment with the IB MYP framework and the school’s strategic priorities.
- Lead the delivery of a strong Middle Years Programme experience built on concept-based and inquiry-led learning.
- Coach, support, appraise, and develop the secondary teaching team so they continue to perform at a high level.
- Use monitoring, evaluation, self-review, and assessment data to support whole-school improvement.
- Develop constructive relationships with students, families, and the wider school community.
- Work closely with the Principal, MYP Coordinator, and senior leadership team to execute the School Improvement Plan.
- Oversee student welfare, pastoral systems, and wellbeing across the secondary section.
- Manage secondary timetabling, curriculum organisation, and academic reporting.
- Encourage student agency, the IB learner profile, and international-minded values across all year groups.
Candidate profile
The school is looking for an experienced school leader with strong knowledge of the IB MYP and a clear record of improving school performance and student outcomes. The ideal candidate will have senior leadership experience in an IB setting, the ability to inspire and develop teams, and a strong grasp of data-informed decision-making. Excellent communication, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills are essential, along with a serious commitment to safeguarding and child welfare. Experience in international schools, particularly in the Middle East, would be an advantage.
Qualifications and requirements
- A recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, QTS, or an equivalent credential.
- A degree relevant to the role.
- Substantial senior leadership experience in an IB school.
- Strong working knowledge of the IB Middle Years Programme.
- Demonstrated success in school improvement and raising learner achievement.
- Proven ability to lead, grow, and motivate high-performing teaching teams.
- Strong data literacy and the ability to interpret assessment information to improve outcomes.
- Excellent communication and people skills.
- Strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- International school experience, ideally in the Middle East, is preferred.
