Job description

About the School

Crimson Global Academy is an internationally recognized online school serving students in over 30 countries. Its teaching team is made up largely of educators from New Zealand, Australia, and the United Kingdom, and the school places a strong emphasis on expert subject knowledge and a safe, inclusive student experience supported by a robust pastoral care network.

The academy groups learners by academic readiness rather than age, so many students are working beyond the level of their peers. With flexible curriculum pathways, advanced technology, and opportunities to accelerate, the school provides a strong environment for high-achieving students. It is also actively incorporating AI into learning in practical, classroom-ready ways.

Role Overview

The organization is seeking a Head of Science to guide the Science faculty across IGCSE and A Level programs. This is a senior leadership position suited to an experienced science educator who can set strategic direction, develop a team of specialists, and influence the future of online science teaching.

The role carries responsibility for standards across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, including the quality and consistency of teaching, assessment, and student progress. It also involves helping embed emerging technologies, including AI, into how science is taught and learned.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and strengthen the Science department, including managing teachers across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
  • Oversee the design and delivery of the Pearson Edexcel and Cambridge International Science curricula at IGCSE and A Level.
  • Maintain high expectations for teaching quality, assessment practices, feedback, and student progress.
  • Support advanced learners by ensuring lessons challenge students who are working above their age group.
  • Promote thoughtful use of AI and other digital tools to improve teaching and learning in science.
  • Guide and develop teachers through lesson observation, constructive feedback, and tailored professional learning.
  • Take part in wider school leadership, strategic planning, and decision-making.
  • Build relationships with parents, students, and prospective families by clearly presenting the strength of the science program.
  • Contribute to co-curricular opportunities such as clubs, competitions, Olympiads, and enrichment activities.
  • Support the pastoral environment that helps students feel safe, included, and well supported.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be a qualified teacher with active New Zealand teaching registration. They should bring substantial secondary-level science teaching experience and strong expertise in at least one of Biology, Chemistry, or Physics.

Previous leadership of a department or faculty is essential, along with a solid grasp of IGCSE and A Level Science, preferably including Pearson Edexcel and Cambridge International. A strong record of excellent student outcomes and the ability to stretch high-performing learners is important.

The school is looking for someone who is genuinely interested in how AI can strengthen learning, comfortable teaching and leading in a virtual setting, and digitally confident. The successful applicant should also be eager to contribute beyond classroom teaching, work well with others, and bring energy to a globally diverse student community.

What the School Offers

  • The opportunity to lead science at a highly innovative online school.
  • A collegial network of subject specialists mainly based in New Zealand, Australia, and the United Kingdom.
  • Flexibility to work from any location.
  • Access to advanced technology and AI tools designed to enhance teaching practice.
  • Engaged, high-achieving students who study according to academic readiness.
  • A strong pastoral system and an inclusive school culture.
  • Continuous professional development and the chance to help shape the future of education.

Eligibility

Applicants must hold current New Zealand teaching registration to be considered for this role.
