Role overview
An experienced and driven educator is sought to step into a school leadership role as Head of School, reporting directly to the Principal. This position is focused on strengthening teaching quality, student wellbeing, and whole-school improvement through strong strategic leadership.
The appointment is temporary full-time, starting on 03 August 2026 and continuing until 11 December 2026, unless another arrangement is made.
About the school
Bellbird Park State Secondary College is among Queensland’s newest secondary schools. It opened in January 2017, and its first Year 12 cohort completed schooling in 2022. The school currently has 1850 enrolled students. Its vision is to help students become resilient and ambitious contributors to their own futures and communities. Its purpose is to embrace equity and support every student to grow and succeed, regardless of ability, location, background or starting point.
About the role
In this position, you will work alongside the Executive Principal and the wider leadership team to guide the school’s direction, oversee day-to-day operations and support ongoing improvement. The role is central to building a high-expectations culture that promotes academic excellence, student growth and successful pathways into further study, training and work.
Key duties
- Drive the rollout of strong curriculum, teaching, learning and assessment practices across the school, with leadership of the Teaching and Learning portfolio.
- Assist the Executive Principal in managing the school’s everyday operations.
- Track and improve student achievement, engagement, attendance, wellbeing and post-school outcomes.
- Partner with Deputy Principals, Heads of Department and teaching staff to strengthen curriculum delivery, assessment and student progress.
- Build a school culture that values ambition, achievement and continuous improvement among both students and staff.
- Develop and sustain constructive relationships with parents, universities, employers, industry and community groups to broaden student opportunities and pathways.
- Guide the school community in shaping and committing to a shared vision for strong learning outcomes for every student.
- Oversee human, financial and physical resources in support of organisational goals.
- Make a meaningful contribution to the creation and implementation of the 2027–2030 Strategic Plan.
