Job description

About Cotswold Energy Group

Cotswold Energy Group is a profitable business operating in a fast-growing decarbonisation sector, serving both domestic and commercial customers. Founded by three childhood friends, the company was built on a commitment to clear, honest renewable-energy solutions that help customers make the most of modern technologies. That founding mindset still shapes the business today, alongside a culture centred on support, teamwork and high standards.

The company designs and installs renewable energy systems such as air source heat pumps (ASHP), ground source heat pumps (GSHP), water source heat pumps (WSHP) and solar PV, together with the related building services. Its client base spans public and private sector organisations, with projects covering homes, commercial premises, leisure centres and education facilities.

Role Overview

The Head of Project Management will lead the project management function within the commercial division. The role is accountable for delivering projects successfully through strong governance, team leadership, portfolio oversight and ongoing process enhancement.

You will manage a team of Project Managers and ensure delivery is safe, punctual, cost-effective and of a high standard, while meeting the required regulations and quality expectations. The position also requires close collaboration with internal engineering, design and commercial teams, as well as external clients and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and develop a team of Project Managers while building a strong performance-driven culture.
  • Apply consistent project management processes, reporting methods and risk controls across the full portfolio.
  • Serve as the main escalation contact for complex project challenges and assist Project Managers with stakeholder management and commercial discussions.
  • Track portfolio performance and step in when required to maintain delivery against cost, schedule, quality, health and safety, and customer satisfaction targets.
  • Work with engineering, commercial and design functions to support a smooth project journey from pre-construction through commissioning and handover.
  • Run internal project review meetings and maintain accurate forecasting, progress updates and contract administration.
  • Drive continuous improvement in project delivery systems, templates and documentation.
  • Champion a safe working culture and ensure compliance with company procedures, policies and legal requirements.
  • Contribute to planning future delivery capacity in line with business growth and the expanding commercial portfolio.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated success in leading a project management function or a senior project delivery team.
  • Strong control of project management practices, including planning, budgeting, forecasting and risk management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence in handling senior stakeholders and clients.
  • Good commercial understanding, including JCT/NEC contracts, cost control and change management.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond effectively under pressure.
  • Broad technical awareness of renewable energy systems and construction delivery methods.
  • Experience mentoring and developing teams, with the ability to engage and motivate people.
  • Strong organisational ability, time management and prioritisation across multiple live projects.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing market conditions and evolving team needs.

Benefits

  • Training and development opportunities.
  • Stakeholder company pension scheme.
  • Free parking.
