Job description
About Bizee
Bizee supports nearly two million entrepreneurs in starting and managing their businesses. Currently, we are developing an AI-driven Entrepreneur Operating System designed to help founders launch, operate efficiently, maintain compliance, and grow confidently with minimal friction.
We are a profitable, founder-led company at a pivotal growth phase requiring enhanced systems for hiring, leadership, communication, talent development, and operational scaling.
Role Overview
We seek a Head of People & Organizational Effectiveness to act as a strategic partner to the President and executive team. This vital position focuses on building — not just maintaining — the people practices that will elevate talent quality, leadership, and organizational clarity, enabling our growth with minimal complexity or operational lag.
The role centers on strengthening talent density by hiring high-quality builders, operators, and leaders aligned with our culture and growth aspirations.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with executive leadership on organizational design, leadership development, talent standards, succession planning, performance, and minimizing cross-functional conflicts.
- Develop and safeguard Bizee's high talent standards including hiring frameworks, role scorecards, interview calibration, and effective decision-making processes.
- Establish a scalable recruitment system encompassing workforce planning, role definitions, scorecards, interview cycles, calibration, and ensuring a positive candidate experience.
- Create and maintain Bizee's People Operating System—rhythms and rituals that foster alignment, accountability, and strong performance.
- Empower managers through enablement programs, feedback mechanisms, performance routines, and clearly articulated leadership duties.
- Lead the design and execution of performance management cycles including goal-setting, rating calibrations, and linking outcomes to compensation and promotions.
- Provide strategic advice on role clarity, leveling, compensation philosophy, incentive structures, organizational spans and layers, and capability development.
- Develop onboarding, employee engagement, and internal communications that accelerate new employee integration and reinforce mission alignment.
- Drive change management initiatives as Bizee modernizes operational models, AI workflows, and supports distributed teams.
- Plan and lead the transition from co-employment (PEO) arrangements globally by building internal HRIS, payroll, benefits, and compliance infrastructures, sequencing migration to minimize disruption, and handling legal, tax, and communication factors.
- Manage multi-state wage and hour compliance and workforce administration for a distributed U.S. employee population across nearly 50 states, including exempt and non-exempt staff.
- Oversee and integrate teams across various countries, ensuring a unified company culture and consistent operational standards across diverse geographies and local labor requirements.
Qualifications
- Over 10 years of progressive leadership experience in People, Talent, HR Business Partner, Organizational Effectiveness, or People Operations roles.
- Proven track record in building People systems from scratch within high-growth, profitable, founder-led, PE-backed SaaS, platform, marketplace, or tech-enabled service companies.
- Exceptional executive judgment and the ability to serve as a true strategic partner to senior leadership.
- Deep expertise in talent systems, performance management, manager development, organizational design, leveling, compensation frameworks, and People Operations infrastructure.
- Strong perspectives on talent density, leadership standards, quality hiring, and building high-performance cultures.
- Highly operational mindset—structured, practical, clear, and action-oriented.
- High emotional intelligence and resilience, capable of coaching executives, managing sensitive issues, and clarifying priorities without bureaucracy.
- Balanced strategic and hands-on approach, advising executives and improving operational workflows as needed.
- Business-savvy with a keen sense of revenue, margins, productivity, and scaling tradeoffs.
- Clear, low-drama communication style focused on facts, judgment, and calm delivery.
- Culture ambassador who protects core company values while elevating performance criteria.
- Adaptable in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
- Excellent written communication skills to simplify complex organizational challenges into actionable plans.
- Experience managing a distributed U.S. workforce spanning 40+ states with understanding of state-specific wage and hour laws and compliance operations.
- Experience leading or collaborating across international teams to unify culture, leadership standards, and management practices rather than maintaining siloed operations.
- Direct involvement in transitioning workforces from co-employment (PEO) models to proprietary direct employment structures, including building payroll, benefits, and compliance frameworks and managing change effectively.
Success Indicators
- Within the first year, successfully establish a robust People Operating System enhancing company-wide alignment, ownership, speed, and accountability.
- Create a more disciplined, efficient, and high-quality hiring process with clear role and level expectations that increase talent density.
- Elevate managerial capabilities in direction-setting, performance coaching, conflict resolution, and clarity generation, resulting in improved employee understanding of company mission and expectations.
- Become a trusted advisor to the President, executive team, and leadership by scaling the organization through discipline, clarity, high standards, and sound judgment.
