Job description

About Nest Health

Nest Health is a pioneering value-based care provider focused on delivering comprehensive medical, behavioral, and social care to America's most vulnerable families. Founded in 2022 by Dr. Rebekah Gee and Rebecca Kavoussi, Nest offers a unique family-centered care model that includes adult and pediatric primary care, mental health and nutrition support, vaccinations and labs, acute visits, chronic care management, and social service navigation. Nest has rapidly expanded its partnerships, reaching thousands of families across multiple markets with a vision to broaden access nationwide.

Startup Environment

Working at Nest means embracing a dynamic, fast-paced startup atmosphere requiring agility, resilience, and versatility. Employees often juggle multiple responsibilities, experience rapid changes, and have opportunities for significant impact while navigating less-structured learning environments and collaborating closely across teams.

  • Role diversity with responsibility for multiple functions.
  • Exposure to various company roles and learning opportunities.
  • Fast decision-making and adaptability to change.
  • High degree of autonomy and self-directed learning.
  • Collaborative culture emphasizing effective communication and feedback.

Role Purpose

The Head of People is a foundational leadership role reporting to the COO, tasked with developing and leading Nest’s entire People function. This position is critical to creating and sustaining a culture that supports clinicians and staff in delivering exceptional care. The role encompasses strategic planning, budgeting, team leadership, and executing effective recruiting and retention practices aligned with Nest's mission and growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide executive-level leadership on organizational design, workforce planning, succession planning, and culture development.
  • Own the People strategy, budget, and annual operating plans.
  • Build and manage the People team, advancing modern HR operational frameworks as the company scales.
  • Lead end-to-end enterprise recruiting for clinical and non-clinical roles, managing employer branding and retention efforts.
  • Drive workforce planning focused on expanding into new markets and managing clinical capacity.
  • Ensure recruitment targets for time-to-fill, quality of hire, and pipeline health are met.
  • Manage performance reviews, leadership coaching, succession planning, and career frameworks.
  • Coach senior leaders to enhance accountability and cross-department collaboration.
  • Design the overall employee experience with integrated diversity, equity, and inclusion objectives.
  • Maintain high ethical standards in hiring practices, employee relations, and critical communications.
  • Develop and execute total rewards strategies, including salary structuring, incentives, equity, and benefits to ensure market competitiveness and financial viability.
  • Oversee People Operations functions including HR systems, compliance, benefits administration, and workforce analytics.
  • Lead or coordinate investigations and employee relations issues in cooperation with Legal counsel.
  • Ensure employment law compliance across all operating locations and proactively manage related risks.

Role Clarifications

  • This position offers significant opportunity to build systems and processes from the ground up rather than maintaining existing structures.
  • It focuses on strategic leadership rather than routine administrative tasks.
  • It requires building and scaling the People function as Nest grows nationally.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Over 12 years of progressive leadership experience in People operations, including senior or executive roles.
  • Background in service-oriented settings such as healthcare delivery or multi-site operations where workforce strategy is integral.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and expand People functions in fast-growing, multi-market contexts, with direct responsibility for recruiting functions.
  • Extensive expertise in talent acquisition, organizational design, compensation and benefits, employee relations, and legal compliance.
  • Strong executive presence to influence and hold C-level leaders accountable.
  • Committed to integrity, emotional intelligence, and sound judgment.
  • Dedication to diversity, equity, and the mission to improve equitable healthcare outcomes.

Benefits and Perks

  • Competitive salary aligned with experience and responsibilities.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and life insurance plans focused on family needs, including behavioral and veterinary care.
  • Generous parental leave policies for all caregivers and flexible return-to-work options.
  • Reimbursement for vehicle-related expenses incurred while working.
  • Annual tuition reimbursement up to $3,000 for continued education and professional growth.
  • Short-term and long-term disability insurance plans.
  • 401(k) retirement plan participation through a trusted provider.
  • Unlimited paid time off to support work-life balance.

Work Conditions and Travel

This is a remote role based in the United States with approximately 20% travel required for visits to field offices and external meetings.

Equal Opportunity

Nest Health values diversity and inclusion, encouraging applications from individuals with varied backgrounds and those who may not meet every qualification listed but believe in the mission and are eager to contribute.
