Job description

About GLD

GLD is a rapidly expanding global jewelry and lifestyle brand blending fashion, sports, music, and culture. Collaborating with major organizations like the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, NCAA, and top athletes and entertainers, GLD reaches millions through direct-to-consumer, wholesale, retail partners, marketplaces, and events.

Position Overview

The Head of Operations will spearhead the design and management of GLD's entire operational framework, including inbound logistics, international supply chains, warehousing, distribution, order fulfillment, event operations, and evolving retail channels. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role partners cross-functionally with Technology, Finance, Merchandising, and Planning teams.

This is a leadership position demanding hands-on management — from warehouse floor involvement to system development and strategic direction. The ideal candidate possesses in-depth operations expertise, a forward-thinking approach to automation and technology, and sound judgment regarding build vs. buy decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead complete operational workflows covering inbound logistics, warehouse activities, inventory transfers, fulfillment, distribution, and outbound shipments.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators promoting cost efficiency, quality, speed, and customer satisfaction.
  • Create scalable processes and staffing models accommodating rapid growth and seasonal fluctuations.
  • Manage warehouse functions including receiving, inventory control, order picking/packing/shipping, returns, and layout optimization.
  • Improve productivity, fulfillment accuracy, and implement operational standards and SOPs.
  • Oversee inbound freight strategy and maintain relationships with logistics, carriers, freight forwarders, and distribution partners.
  • Ensure seamless international supply chain coordination including shipment readiness, customs clearance, and inventory accuracy.
  • Partner closely with technology teams to define needs, prioritize developments, and lead implementations of warehouse management systems, automation tools, AI, robotics, and operational dashboards.
  • Plan and execute logistics for brand activations, fan events, pop-ups, trade shows, and wholesale events, ensuring precise inventory and staff coordination.
  • Prepare operational infrastructure to support future retail stores focusing on omnichannel fulfillment, store replenishment, and retail logistics.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams — Product, Merchandising, Quality Control, Asia Operations, E-commerce, Customer Experience, Finance, Technology, Planning, and Marketing — to align operational capabilities with growth strategies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years leadership experience in warehouse, logistics, fulfillment, or supply chain operations at senior levels.
  • Strong knowledge of omnichannel fulfillment at scale and proven ability to grow operational teams during rapid expansion.
  • Experience deploying enterprise operation systems such as WMS, OMS, ERP, and automation technologies.
  • Excellent analytical skills with deep insight into operational KPIs and project management.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership and influencing capabilities within technical and non-technical settings.
  • Preferred experience includes Shopify, NetSuite ERP, WMS implementation, robotics, retail operations, 3PL, and international logistics.
  • Nice-to-have: direct responsibility for technology teams or operational technology beyond system rollout, and experience managing demand planning or inventory forecasting.

Success Metrics

  • Effective deployment of a next-generation Warehouse Management System within 12-18 months.
  • Improved fulfillment speed, inventory precision, and reduced operational expenses.
  • Established scalable warehouse practices that support business growth.
  • Developed a multi-year technology roadmap for operations.
  • Enhanced labor productivity through automation and process improvements.
  • Prepared operations for retail expansion, improving cost per order, SLA adherence, inventory accuracy, and on-time delivery.

Candidate Attributes

The ideal leader is equally adept solving hands-on warehouse challenges and crafting long-term operational strategies. They show operational discipline alongside innovation, eagerly adopting technology and automation to enhance processes. Thriving in fast-growth environments, they build robust partnerships and scalable structures that maintain service and quality without sacrifice, ready to expand their role as the company evolves.
