Job description
Role overview
Belong is seeking an accomplished, values-driven Head of Operations to support and strengthen how its villages and services are run. This senior leadership position has significant influence and works closely with the Executive Team, General Managers, and other operational leaders to ensure services are safe, commercially robust, well managed, and focused on delivering excellent experiences for customers, families, and colleagues.
Belong operates differently from traditional care providers. Its village model is based on household living, relationship-focused care, and lively communities designed to help people live well with support that is personal, warm, and human.
In this role, you will help make sure that model is delivered consistently and sustainably, with the right balance of quality, compliance, commercial performance, and people leadership.
Key duties
You will lead operational delivery across a portfolio of services and work with General Managers and senior teams to drive strong performance, high standards of care, and positive outcomes.
- Provide leadership across Belong villages and services to improve operational performance.
- Partner with General Managers to strengthen quality, compliance, occupancy, workforce planning, and financial results.
- Offer visible leadership, coaching, and constructive challenge so local teams can perform at their best.
- Support services in preparing for and responding to CQC expectations, quality audits, and improvement plans.
- Spot operational risks early and work with others to implement effective corrective actions.
- Promote consistency across the organisation while respecting each village’s individuality.
- Use data, insight, and operational intelligence to guide decisions.
- Develop strong relationships with internal teams, external partners, commissioners, and local communities.
- Contribute to strategic initiatives and wider organisational development.
Candidate profile
Belong is looking for someone who understands the demands of operational leadership in health, social care, housing, hospitality, or another people-centred setting.
The ideal candidate will bring senior leadership experience, commercial awareness, and the ability to quickly build effective relationships with operational teams.
Experience and skills
- Proven success as an operational leader with a history of improving services.
- Confidence in leading through others across several locations or services.
- Commercial understanding, including budgets, performance management, and operational planning.
- Comfort working with CQC, safeguarding, quality audits, and compliance improvement activity.
- Strong relationship-building skills with senior stakeholders and frontline leaders, including the Executive Team and General Managers.
- Ability to travel regularly across Belong villages.
- Experience at Regional or Head of Operations level would be an advantage.
- Background in adult social care, older people’s services, retirement living, housing with care, or other regulated services would be particularly valuable.
