Role Overview
The Head of Medical & Professional Affairs for Southeast Asia & Korea (SEAK) will drive the region's medical strategy in line with global directives, overseeing areas including Myopia Management, Presbyopia, Light Management, Care solutions, Wearables, Medical Technologies, and Clinical Instruments. As the principal medical and scientific representative, this position builds robust partnerships with eye care professionals, academic institutions, and professional bodies. Collaboration with marketing, sales, retail, and brand teams is essential to maintain scientific integrity, professional credibility, and regulatory adherence.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and implement the Medical & Professional Affairs strategy for SEAK congruent with corporate objectives.
- Enhance the role of Medical Technologies and Affairs within professional and internal communities to bolster products and innovations.
- Align medical initiatives with brand, marketing, sales, and category strategies to maximize business impact.
- Lead execution of Vision Care Optical Categories strategy, emphasizing Essilor® Stellest® and Myopia Management programs.
- Act as the foremost scientific authority on eye health, delivering evidence-based insights to support commercial success and clinical best practices.
- Represent EssilorLuxottica at regional congresses and professional events, fostering company presence and scientific dialogue.
- Forge and nurture relationships with external key opinion leaders including ophthalmologists, optometrists, orthoptists, paediatricians, academia, and professional associations.
- Develop and customize medical education programs for internal teams and external partners, ensuring alignment with evidence-based global standards.
- Oversee localization and compliance of medical communications and materials in the SEAK region, securing validation from reference ophthalmologists.
- Implement systems for monitoring medical activities, evaluate outcomes, and recommend strategic improvements.
- Ensure all activities adhere strictly to regional regulatory frameworks and internal policies, safeguarding medical accuracy and ethical standards.
- Monitor clinical, scientific, and technological innovations, maintaining competitive intelligence to uphold leadership in the sector.
- Lead and mentor the Medical & Professional Affairs teams across SEAK, promoting effective cross-functional collaboration.
Qualifications & Experience
- Holds an MD, or a Bachelor/Master degree in Optics, Optometry, Vision Science; PhD is advantageous, MBA is an asset.
- Possesses at least 10 years of experience in the eye care or medical device industries, with solid expertise in medical technologies and pharmaceuticals.
- Proven success in professional engagement, stakeholder management, and medical education delivery.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities with prior experience managing teams.
