Al Rabeeh Academy is looking for an accomplished and enthusiastic Head of Mathematics to join its high-performing team from August 2026.
In this role within an international British curriculum school, you will provide instructional leadership across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, including GCSE and A Level Mathematics. You will guide, coordinate and develop the Mathematics department, setting expectations, mentoring teachers and supporting their professional growth while maintaining excellent standards of teaching, learning and student achievement. The role also includes oversight of curriculum design, assessment, data interpretation and departmental development planning, with a strong focus on collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
You will help build a strong culture of numeracy and mathematical problem-solving across the school, encouraging analytical thinking, reasoning and cross-curricular links, while maintaining a structured, engaging and ambitious learning environment that supports innovation and academic excellence.

What the role involves
- Delivering and leading strong, engaging Mathematics teaching in line with the British Curriculum, with responsibility for provision up to GCSE and A Level.
- Setting the tone for analytical thinking, problem-solving and numeracy, and ensuring department teaching is creative, demanding and effective.
- Applying both formative and summative assessment methods to monitor learning, measure attainment and strengthen progress across all key stages.
- Leading curriculum planning, sequencing and development across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 so that learning is coherent, progressive and aligned with exam expectations.
- Managing, coaching and supporting Mathematics teachers while promoting high standards of teaching, learning and professional conduct.
- Using data to review performance, shape interventions and support ongoing department improvement.
- Supporting students’ academic progress and pastoral wellbeing while embedding the school’s values, routines and high expectations.
- Building constructive relationships with parents and carers and communicating clearly about curriculum plans, student progress and next steps.
- Contributing to whole-school improvement, professional learning and wider school life.
Qualifications and experience
- A fluent command of English is essential.
- A bachelor’s degree in Education or in a relevant subject, together with PGCE, QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification.
- Experience teaching the English National Curriculum, ideally in an international school environment.
- Strong classroom management abilities and a clear commitment to student wellbeing.
- Excellent communication, collaboration and organisational skills.
