About the Role

Al Rabeeh Academy is inviting applications for the position of Head of Mathematics starting August 2026. This pivotal leadership position involves directing the quality of Mathematics education from Key Stages 3 to 5, including GCSE and A Level courses, within a British curriculum international school setting in Abu Dhabi.

As the departmental lead, you will manage a team of Mathematics educators by setting clear objectives, delivering coaching, fostering professional growth, and maintaining high standards of teaching, learning, and student achievement across all levels. Responsibilities include overseeing curriculum design, assessment implementation, data use for performance analysis, and continuous departmental improvement, fostering a supportive and accountable team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and deliver engaging, high-quality Mathematics teaching aligned with the British Curriculum up to GCSE and A Level.
  • Promote and model strong mathematical reasoning, numeracy, and problem-solving skills across the department.
  • Apply diverse formative and summative assessment methods to effectively monitor and enhance student progress and success.
  • Lead curriculum planning and development to ensure seamless progression and compliance with examination standards.
  • Manage, coach, and support Mathematics teachers to uphold outstanding teaching practices and professional behaviour.
  • Utilize data analysis to evaluate departmental performance and guide improvement actions.
  • Support student academic and pastoral wellbeing, embedding core school values and expectations.
  • Establish positive communication lines with parents and carers regarding curriculum goals and student progress.
  • Engage actively in wider school initiatives, professional development, and community life.

Candidate Profile and Qualifications

  • Proficiency in English language is essential.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Education or a Mathematics-related field with appropriate teaching certification such as PGCE or QTS (or abroad equivalent).
  • Experience teaching the English National Curriculum, ideally in an international school environment.
  • Proven classroom management capabilities and dedication to students' welfare.
  • Strong organizational, communicative, and collaborative skills.
