The position is ideal for a confident middle leader with a strong track record of improving attainment and managing teams effectively.
Department context
Maths performance at the school is consistently strong, with GCSE results regularly exceeding national benchmarks and a large share of students securing grades 7 to 9. A Level Maths and Further Maths are becoming increasingly popular, supported by a carefully structured curriculum that emphasises fluency, reasoning and exam-focused application.
The department already has robust systems in place, including centralised planning, shared assessments and regular moderation across all key stages to maintain consistency, accuracy and progression.
What the school provides
- Leadership of an established, well-resourced Maths department
- Protected leadership time to focus on curriculum planning and staff development
- Comprehensive data systems to support intervention and track student progress
- Scope to strengthen Key Stage 5 provision and develop STEM progression routes
- Access to leadership CPD and external subject-specific training
Key responsibilities
- Drive improvements in Maths outcomes across Key Stages 3 to 5
- Lead curriculum sequencing, assessment design and intervention planning
- Support and develop teaching staff through structured coaching and feedback
- Analyse progress data and put effective strategies in place to raise attainment

A proven ability to raise standards and deliver sustained departmental improvement is essential. The school is described as stable and well organised, with strong behaviour systems and supportive leadership that allow subject leaders to concentrate on improving teaching quality and student outcomes.
