Job description

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Head of Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) to lead and expand the Corporate Development function at a Berlin-based technology scale-up on a strong growth trajectory. This leadership position involves shaping the M&A team structurally and operationally while guiding all phases of the acquisition process domestically and internationally.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and establish the Corporate Development organizational structure and team.
  • Identify, approach, and evaluate potential acquisition targets both within Germany and internationally.
  • Create detailed company valuations, financial models, and transaction frameworks to underpin strategic investment decisions.
  • Manage the full M&A cycle from initial contact through to successful signing and closing.
  • Lead and coordinate complex due diligence assignments with involvement from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Take the lead in drafting and negotiating Letters of Intent (LOIs), purchase offers, and acquisition contracts.
  • Work closely with the board, executive management, and international business units to implement growth strategies.
  • Support integration steps for acquired companies ensuring structured onboarding processes.

Candidate Profile

  • University degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related fields.
  • Proven professional background in M&A, Corporate Development, Private Equity, or Investment Banking.
  • Strong expertise in financial modelling and corporate valuation techniques.
  • Experienced in managing complex due diligence and transaction processes.
  • Demonstrated success with buy-and-build or roll-up strategies.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and project management abilities.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset coupled with strong self-drive.
  • Willingness to travel extensively.
  • Fluency in both German and English languages.
