Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Head of IT and Digitalization Europe to lead and advance the IT and digital transformation strategy across the region. This leadership position involves overseeing IT operations, enterprise applications, and digital initiatives to support business expansion, operational efficiency, compliance, and innovation. Key responsibilities include managing infrastructure, workplace technology, network, cybersecurity, and key business platforms such as SAP, MES, and supply chain systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and implement the European IT and digitalization strategy aligned with global IT direction and regional business goals.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for innovation, automation, and operational improvements across IT infrastructure, enterprise applications, manufacturing, supply chain, and business support areas.
- Serve as a strategic partner to regional leadership, translating business requirements into scalable and compliant technology solutions.
- Establish a robust digital foundation to foster growth, compliance, process standardization, and future transformation initiatives.
- Lead IT operations including cloud services, infrastructure management, service delivery, governance, and vendor relations.
- Manage network connectivity across manufacturing plants, warehouses, laboratories, and offices ensuring high availability and business continuity.
- Oversee enterprise application strategy and governance focusing on SAP/ERP, MES, supply chain, and related systems.
- Collaborate with business units to optimize process standardization through technology.
- Manage application lifecycles and drive continuous improvements aligned with global standards.
- Champion digital transformation in manufacturing and supply chain, facilitating system deployment and enhancement.
- Promote automation, process simplification, and data-centric performance metrics in partnership with business leaders.
- Ensure IT solutions comply with regulatory standards, product quality, and operational excellence requirements in regulated environments.
- Leverage data and analytics to enhance planning, efficiency, and informed decision-making.
- Implement and enforce IT governance frameworks consistent with global IT and enterprise architecture guidelines.
- Maintain compliance with regulations including GMP, GxP, ISO, and GDPR, alongside cybersecurity mandates.
- Lead and mentor a high-performing IT and digital team within the region.
- Oversee strategic vendor partnerships and regional IT budget management ensuring cost-effectiveness and service quality.
- Support prioritization and business case development for digital initiatives emphasizing value, scalability, and compliance.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Academic qualification: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, Business Information Systems, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years progressive leadership experience in IT, digital transformation, or enterprise applications, preferably in manufacturing, life sciences, or regulated industries.
- Demonstrated expertise managing regional or multi-site IT operations including infrastructure, service delivery, and vendor management.
- Strong background in enterprise software including SAP/ERP, MES, and supply chain management systems.
- In-depth knowledge of end-to-end business processes and proven experience driving digital transformation in manufacturing and supply chain contexts.
- Experience with MES and shopfloor system integration is highly advantageous.
- Comprehensive understanding of IT governance, compliance issues, cybersecurity, and data privacy.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement abilities with a strategic and hands-on leadership style.
- Proficiency in English is required; additional European languages are favorable.
- Willingness to travel across Europe and occasionally to Asia.
- High level of integrity and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
