Job description

Role overview

This is a senior investment leadership opportunity within a boutique advisory setting that serves ultra-high-net-worth families. The environment is not a large institutional platform; instead, the role offers the chance to help shape a more advanced investment capability around existing client relationships.

The position is intended for a leader who can think across the full wealth picture and provide outsourced-CIO style guidance to families with complex assets and long-term objectives. The work spans investment strategy, portfolio construction, governance, manager selection, and client-facing advisory.

Reported compensation for this position is $300,000 to $350,000.

Client type: Multi-family office serving ultra-high-net-worth clients.

Core focus: investment strategy and oversight across the whole portfolio.

Best-fit background: private wealth, family office or multi-family office, UHNW advisory, or senior retail investment leadership.

Preferred exposure: multi-asset portfolios, oversight of external managers, alternatives, private markets, and sophisticated client environments.

What the role involves

You will act as the senior investment voice, helping clients and the leadership team build disciplined, well-governed portfolio oversight. A key part of the role is converting family objectives, risk tolerance, liquidity needs, tax considerations and long-term priorities into practical investment direction.

The remit covers the complete portfolio picture across listed equities, fixed income, cash, property, alternatives, private markets, external managers and other exposures. You will also contribute to asset allocation, diversification, concentration management, liquidity planning and long-term positioning.

In addition, the role includes evaluating external managers, advisers, platforms and specialist providers by looking at mandate fit, performance, costs, risk and reporting quality. You will help establish research discipline, governance processes, documentation, review cadence and reporting standards for the investment function.

The role also requires direct engagement with families, founders, advisers and other stakeholders, along with collaboration with leadership on how the investment capability is designed, delivered, scaled and governed in a premium multi-family office context.

Candidate profile

The ideal person is a senior investment professional with experience in private wealth, family office or multi-family office environments, or in UHNW advisory and retail investment leadership. This is not meant for someone whose career has been limited to institutional investing away from private clients.

Success in this role depends on understanding sophisticated families, private wealth structures, adviser networks and how investment strategy must work in the context of an entire family balance sheet.

Important notice

Only candidates who are currently based in Australia and hold full Australian working rights will be considered.

Compensation

Salary range: $300,000 to $350,000.
