Audi is undergoing one of the most significant transformations in its history. Factors such as technology evolution, geopolitics, artificial intelligence, electromobility, software-defined vehicles, new competitors, and changing customer expectations are reshaping the global automotive sector.
Within this transformative landscape, communication serves as a strategic organizational unit: shaping public perception, steering global discourse, fostering trust, and supporting the company's long-term success.
Role Overview
This position carries responsibility for global media relations, digital engagement, corporate social media, and international narrative control. The role directly influences how Audi is perceived worldwide across media outlets, platforms, markets, and key stakeholders.
Reporting directly to the Vice President Global Communications & Corporate Affairs, the role works closely with top management, international communications teams, product and executive communications units, and public affairs to position Audi as a pioneering and globally relevant premium brand.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead global media relations by developing and managing Audi's global media strategy across all significant markets.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with leading international journalists, editors, media organizations, and influencers.
- Proactively position Audi within leading international media outlets and relevant public debates.
- Identify early international media opportunities and reputation risks, responding effectively in fast-changing scenarios.
- Oversee narrative and reputation management by developing consistent global narratives across markets and channels.
- Enhance Audi's external positioning amid profound transformation phases.
- Direct international issues and crisis communications during high-pressure situations.
- Provide strategic counsel to senior management on reputation, media perception, and positioning.
- Lead digital engagement and social media, including overseeing the global corporate social media strategy, governance, and platform development.
- Improve the impact, relevance, and consistency of digital storytelling worldwide.
- Integrate communication efforts across earned, owned, and social channels to amplify key themes.
- Advance a modern, data-driven, and audience-targeted approach to digital engagement.
- Lead and develop a high-performing international team.
- Forge robust partnerships across markets, business units, and the Volkswagen Group.
- Serve as a trusted strategic advisor and sparring partner for top management and international stakeholders.
Qualifications
- University degree in communication sciences or a related field.
- Extensive international leadership experience in global communications, media relations, journalism, or reputation management.
- Robust and reliable network across internationally influential media outlets.
- Proven ability to shape narratives and successfully position organizations or leaders in complex global environments.
- Deep understanding of today's media landscape, digital ecosystems, and platform dynamics.
- Experience handling crises, geopolitical issues, transformation processes, and high-pressure situations.
- Outstanding leadership skills within complex, international matrix organizations.
- Confident demeanor, strong advisory capability, and experience collaborating with boards of directors and supervisory boards.
- Entrepreneurial mindset, curiosity, resilience, and high personal credibility.
- Proficiency in English and German at a negotiation level; additional languages are beneficial.
