Role Overview
We seek an exceptional Head of Finance to take a key leadership position supporting the Finance Director and collaborating closely with the Senior Leadership Team to guide strategic decisions, enhance commercial success, and promote sustained growth across water sector businesses.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Finance Director to build a top-tier finance function.
- Enhance financial controls, governance, and compliance standards.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning efforts.
- Standardize finance processes, systems, and reporting frameworks division-wide.
- Lead automation initiatives, simplify operations, and enable data-driven decision-making through partnership with Shared Services.
- Develop and implement consistent pricing strategies and governance mechanisms.
- Monitor pricing effectiveness including margin analysis and discount adherence.
- Collaborate with commercial teams to optimize pricing and maximize deal profitability.
- Establish meaningful KPIs and performance metrics related to pricing.
- Create a finance performance framework aligning KPIs with strategic goals.
- Deliver insightful reports, variance analyses, and forward-looking recommendations.
- Incorporate data visualization tools like Power BI to provide real-time performance insights.
- Collaborate with operations to support cost optimization and boost productivity.
- Develop dashboards and metrics for tracking productivity and costs.
- Identify efficiency gains via benchmarking and ongoing improvements.
- Provide robust ROI analysis and business cases for investments.
- Act as a trusted business partner, influencing and supporting senior leaders throughout the division.
- Embed finance into commercial and operational processes such as pricing and performance management.
- Coach and develop finance team members, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Ensure the finance team delivers meaningful commercial insights beyond standard reporting.

Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Extensive experience in senior finance leadership roles.
- Strong operational and commercial finance background.
- Proven capabilities in driving business performance and cost transformation.
- Excellent skills in financial modelling and data analytics.
- Experience developing KPI frameworks and performance dashboards.
Desirable Attributes
- Proficiency with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Familiarity with pricing tools and/or CRM systems.
- Experience in transforming or scaling finance functions.
- Background in the manufacturing sector is advantageous.
