Role Overview

This senior finance leadership role requires an experienced and commercially savvy finance professional to lead and transform the finance function. You'll collaborate closely with the fractional CFO while driving operational improvements and commercial finance initiatives. The role involves overseeing the existing team and adapting to evolving AI and automation opportunities to foster a modern, efficient finance team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the finance function daily, overseeing its transformation into an AI-powered, high-value operation.
• Collaborate with the fractional CFO to translate strategic financial aims into operational outcomes and provide commercial insights back into planning.
• Implement pricing governance, margin oversight, and client profitability analysis alongside the Head of Technical Development.
• Drive the adoption of automation and AI in finance processes by partnering with the AI Guild to build and deploy appropriate tools that eliminate manual tasks and address process inefficiencies.
• Manage financial planning, forecasting, and reporting to provide insight critical for margin protection and growth.
• Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory financial requirements, coordinating with auditors and external financial parties.
• Act as an influential Leadership Team member, contributing financial perspectives to strategic growth and investment decisions.
• Support and develop the finance team during significant change, prioritizing morale and wellbeing.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with at least 5 years post-qualification experience.
• Proven finance leadership experience including ownership of month-end close, reporting, and financial control.
• Experience leading finance teams through process transformation with a focus on people development and wellbeing.
• Demonstrated competence using automation, AI, or systems integration to reduce manual finance work.
• Strong commercial insight into pricing, margins, and client/product profitability.
• Ability to work cross-functionally identifying root causes of process errors and establishing accountability to prevent recurrence.
• Confidence operating at Leadership Team level, collaborating effectively with a CFO, and influencing strategic decisions.
• Strong self-management and tenacity to balance transformation initiatives with daily financial controls.

Additional Preferred Experience

• Background in IT Managed Services, MSP, or similar recurring revenue project environments.
• Hands-on interest and application of AI tools and automation to finance processes.
• Experience working in fast-paced, high growth settings requiring swift ownership and action.
