Voxology is a Communications Platform as a Service (CPaaS) provider delivering scalable infrastructure for real-time communications, supporting everything from automated telephone line testing to extensive voice and messaging solutions. The platform integrates RESTful APIs, dashboards, and backend orchestration systems, enabling organizations to manage critical communications effectively at scale.

We are seeking a Head of Engineering to lead a compact, high-efficiency engineering team, with a direct report to our CTO. This role emphasizes leadership, team development, and operational management, while also involving occasional direct technical contributions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and nurture a small engineering team through one-on-one meetings, career path development, constructive feedback, and performance management.
• Manage end-to-end delivery across frontend and backend systems, from initial planning stages through to production support.
• Administer the team’s workflow and operating rhythm, including sprint and release planning, setting roadmaps, and maintaining clear priorities and ownership.
• Recruit and interview new engineering talent to expand the team, shaping a robust and positive engineering culture.
• Collaborate closely with product owners, QA, dev/ops, and other stakeholders to convert product objectives into well-defined and manageable tasks.
• Provide transparent communication of project status, risks, and tradeoffs to the leadership team.
• Guide technical direction and architectural decisions alongside the team, ensuring sustainable long-term maintainability.
• Contribute strategically to code design, reviews, and implementation when it brings the greatest benefit to the team, stepping in to support development efforts as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience or familiarity with telecom or CPaaS technologies such as SMS, SIP, and voice calling.
• Hands-on knowledge of relational databases (SQL or NoSQL) and messaging frameworks like Kafka and RabbitMQ.
• Experience using observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, and the ELK stack.
• A strong background in Agile and Scrum development methodologies.
• Understanding of secure coding standards and compliance frameworks, including SOC 2.
• Exposure to integrating Artificial Intelligence within development workflows.
