Job description

About the company

Insomnia Visuals is a fast-scaling alternative fashion label with a large digital audience and a presence in major mall retail locations across the United States.

HQ is located in Downtown Los Angeles. The role can be performed either remotely or in a hybrid setup based in Los Angeles.

Role overview

This is a full-time leadership position responsible for driving the company’s direct-to-consumer growth. The Head of Ecommerce will own the revenue engine across acquisition, site experience, retention, analytics, campaign execution, TikTok Shop, affiliate marketing, influencer activity, loyalty, and performance-focused creative.

The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on: someone who can build the growth plan, guide the team executing it, and quickly pinpoint what is driving results, what is underperforming, and what must change. A strong understanding of how DTC businesses scale from around $5M to $50M is expected, along with the ability to protect brand identity and cultural relevance while growing revenue.

You will lead the paid media, retention, and performance marketing functions while coordinating closely with content, product, operations, agencies, freelancers, creators, and external vendors. The role reports directly to the CEO.

What you will own

  • Overall DTC revenue performance and ecommerce growth strategy.
  • Weekly business reporting covering revenue, MER, ROAS, CAC, CVR, AOV, LTV, retention, and launch performance.
  • Dashboards, performance insights, and follow-up action plans.
  • Website optimization, including merchandising, homepage changes, collection pages, product pages, landing pages, and promotional offers.
  • Conversion rate optimization across the full site journey, including checkout, bundles, upsells, and landing pages.
  • Paid acquisition across Meta, TikTok, Google, and other relevant performance channels.
  • Alignment and oversight of the paid ads lead, including spend, creative direction, and reporting.
  • Retention marketing leadership to ensure lifecycle campaigns support revenue targets.
  • TikTok Shop strategy and growth, including affiliates, product assortment, promotions, content, and reporting.
  • Long-term Pinterest organic growth as a discovery and traffic source.
  • Performance content requirements for paid media, TikTok Shop, retention, and landing pages.
  • UGC and content pipeline management.
  • Coordination of launches across web, paid media, email/SMS, TikTok Shop, affiliates, and influencers.
  • Collaboration with the brand director on influencer strategy, including seeding, paid partnerships, creator relationships, and tracking.
  • Ownership of the affiliate program, including recruiting partners, setting offers, communication, commission structure, and reporting.
  • Loyalty program strategy, including rewards, customer segmentation, retention initiatives, and performance analysis.
  • Alignment with product and womenswear teams so marketing reflects drops, hero items, and inventory levels.
  • Coordination with operations to ensure campaigns match inventory, fulfillment, and launch readiness.
  • Management of agencies, freelancers, vendors, and outside ecommerce partners.
  • Creation of systems, calendars, owners, KPIs, and deadlines for the ecommerce function.
  • Presentation of outcomes, insights, and next steps in leadership meetings.
  • Ongoing awareness of ecommerce, fashion, Gen Z, creator, social, and digital marketing trends.

Team and working environment

You will collaborate with paid ads leadership, retention leadership, marketing associates, influencers and creators, affiliate partners, agencies, freelancers, ecommerce/web vendors, and internal content, product, and operations teams.

The environment is fast-moving, highly accountable, and deeply tied to fashion, music, internet culture, and alternative style. The business has a broad product catalog, launches new products often, and operates with a strong visual identity for a Gen Z audience.

Requirements

  • At least 6 to 8+ years of experience in ecommerce, growth, performance marketing, or digital leadership.
  • Prior experience in a product-led ecommerce business is mandatory.
  • Background in fashion, beauty, footwear, accessories, streetwear, or a similar lifestyle category is highly preferred.
  • Strong command of DTC ecommerce, Shopify, conversion optimization, paid media, retention, and reporting.
  • Clear understanding of Gen Z shoppers, social commerce, creator-led marketing, and visual merchandising.
  • Hands-on experience managing paid ads, retention, affiliate programs, influencers, creators, agencies, or ecommerce teams.
  • Ability to interpret data, identify root causes, and translate insights into action.
  • Experience handling large SKU assortments, product drops, and merchandising-intensive websites.
  • Well-developed organizational, communication, and people-management skills.
  • Comfort taking ownership of revenue goals, KPIs, and team accountability.

Who should not apply

  • Applicants without genuine ecommerce experience.
  • Candidates whose backgrounds are limited to SaaS, lead generation, non-visual businesses, or low-SKU products such as brandless supplements.
  • People looking only to run brand marketing or social media.
  • Anyone not comfortable owning revenue, reporting, and KPI performance.
  • Candidates lacking knowledge of paid media, retention, CRO, ecommerce, and performance creative.
  • Those who are not interested in fashion, Gen Z culture, visual branding, or product-driven consumer brands.
  • Anyone not prepared for a fast-paced working style.

Compensation and benefits

The annual salary is between $160,000 and $200,000, with additional bonus incentives tied to performance. Final pay will depend on ecommerce experience, leadership capability, and proven results.

  • Parking is covered.
  • Company-paid PPO health insurance for the employee.
  • Company-paid dental insurance for the employee.
