Role Purpose

This position calls for a commercially minded procurement leader to build, guide, and reshape the global direct procurement function. The role carries responsibility for the full procurement lifecycle across the Vital Medtech group, including supplier selection, qualification, relationship management, continuity of supply, and delivery of long-term value and cost savings. It also requires close collaboration with the Operations Technology teams to support successful new product launches through supplier partnerships.

The function will be developed into a high-performing procurement capability that supports business strategy, regulatory obligations, healthcare industry expectations, innovation, and operational excellence. The scope covers direct procurement categories such as raw materials, semi-finished parts, packaging, finished goods, and sterilisation, with suppliers mainly located in Europe and Asia.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and implement a global procurement roadmap that supports the group’s strategic goals, using a category-led model and the right market intelligence tools and processes.
• Build a supplier relationship management programme that promotes preferred-supplier status and strengthens long-term collaboration.
• Contribute as a core member of the Operations Leadership Team, helping shape decisions around make-versus-buy, geographic footprint, financial planning, and risk management linked to supply security and spend control.
• Ensure suppliers meet Vital Healthcare group standards for ESG and quality requirements.
• Work with executive stakeholders and business teams to keep procurement aligned with operational and clinical priorities.
• Take ownership of direct spend across the group, with responsibility potentially expanding into selected operational indirect categories.
• Lead cost-reduction and value-creation efforts, while improving spend visibility, analytics, and review discipline across the organisation.
• Maintain a structured pipeline of cost-down actions with regular review and clear delivery expectations.
• Partner closely with Supply Chain and Production teams to improve forecasting, inventory management, and supply lead times.
• Lead global supplier sourcing, evaluation, negotiation, and contracting, in coordination with Legal, Technology, and Franchise teams.
• Ensure contracts reflect current and future business needs and allow suitable flexibility for different scenarios.
• Set up strong supplier performance management processes and develop strategic partnerships that support innovation, quality, and value.
• Put governance, controls, and procurement policies in place and ensure they are followed consistently across all regions.
• Proactively manage supply risk, especially for critical materials, and establish governance for mitigation and third-party supplier risk.
• Align procurement activity with Legal, ESG, Regulatory, and Quality requirements, including ethical sourcing and sustainability expectations.
• Run regular business reviews and supplier governance meetings in line with feedback and needs from Production, Quality, and ESG stakeholders.
• Improve procurement processes and systems so they are efficient, scalable, and compliant.
• Work closely with Supply Chain Planning and Production to optimise order quantities, lead times, and inventory levels.
• Where needed, introduce procurement technology such as e-sourcing, contract management, and spend analytics solutions, and lead ongoing improvement initiatives.
