Role overview
The Victorian Department of Health is looking for a senior creative and social media leader to run its end-to-end creative capability. This position brings together an internal creative studio, social media leadership and brand stewardship to deliver strong, digital-first communications that support the department’s strategic story, strengthen the customer experience and generate measurable engagement across owned channels.
The position is responsible for guiding creative production, visual design, video, photography, motion graphics, brand oversight for the department and affiliated brands, and the wider social media strategy. It also covers channel management, community moderation, analytics and ongoing optimisation. Working closely with Communications and Engagement, the role keeps creative outputs and social distribution aligned, timely, on-brand and responsive to government priorities, including emergency and crisis communications. All content, brand activity and social media practice must comply with Whole-of-Victorian Government guidelines and standards.

Candidate profile
The ideal candidate will bring senior leadership experience across creative, digital and social media teams, along with the ability to turn audience insights and performance data into practical content and channel strategies. They will also be comfortable navigating complex organisational settings and using digital communications to support reputation, public engagement and broader organisational priorities.
Qualifications and certifications
A tertiary qualification in communications, writing, marketing, digital media or a related discipline is desirable, although equivalent experience will also be considered. Professional certification in Google Analytics is strongly preferred.
