Role summary

The company is hiring a Head of IT & Security to take ownership of internal technology, security, and compliance as the business scales. Reporting to the CPTO, this leader will help keep people, systems, and data protected while also enabling fast business execution. The role involves close partnership with Engineering, Legal, People, and Technology leadership to create a modern, resilient, and compliant operating environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the IT Support, Security, and Compliance teams and build a dependable internal technology function that can scale.
• Take charge of security and compliance initiatives, including SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certification work, and maintain a strong security stance.
• Administer Microsoft 365 in a complex multi-tenant environment, balancing protection, identity management, and user experience.
• Manage important technology vendors, including renewal discussions, licensing efficiency, and commercial contract negotiations.
• Work with Engineering teams to address security exposure during major platform changes and legacy system migrations.
• Collaborate with Legal, the DPO, and People teams so that governance, compliance, and security practices are embedded across the organisation.

Requirements

• Proven experience leading IT, Security, or Corporate Technology teams within a scaling technology-driven company.
• Demonstrated success in leading or co-leading a SOC 2 Type II or ISO 27001 certification programme.
• Practical experience managing Microsoft 365 in a complex or multi-tenant setup.
• Experience handling enterprise software vendors, licensing arrangements, and contract negotiations.
• Working knowledge of GRC tools such as Scytale or similar compliance automation platforms.
• Comfort working alongside Product and Engineering teams as a strategic partner rather than as a standalone IT unit.
• Prior experience in EdTech, language services, or businesses serving both B2B and B2C audiences is highly desirable.

This is a remote, full-time position with occasional travel for business needs or events.
