Role Overview

The Head of Corporate Banking will spearhead the development and expansion of UBA Tanzania’s corporate banking portfolio, primarily focusing on delivering tailored financial services to both corporate and institutional clients. Stationed full-time at the Dar es Salaam office, this leadership position encompasses oversight of relationship management teams, formulation and execution of business development strategies, and ensuring exceptional service standards for key clients. Core responsibilities include managing credit and risk parameters for corporate accounts, overseeing portfolio monitoring, promoting trade finance and transactional banking products, and fostering collaboration with other business units for cross-selling opportunities. Furthermore, the role requires market trend analysis, identification of business prospects, preparation of strategic business plans and performance reports, as well as ensuring full compliance with internal policies and external regulatory frameworks.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provide mentorship and leadership to corporate banking team members, encouraging a culture centered on accountability and customer service excellence.
  • Represent UBA Tanzania in high-level client meetings and industry forums, strengthening relationships and the bank’s market position.

Desired Qualifications and Skills

  • Demonstrated expertise in Business Relationship Management encompassing client acquisition, account management, and stakeholder collaboration.
  • Strong capabilities in Business Planning and Portfolio Management to drive growth strategies and optimize risk-reward outcomes in corporate portfolios.
  • Proficiency in Finance and Trade Finance, with hands-on experience in corporate lending, structured finance, and trade finance products.
  • Advanced analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, including financial data analysis, credit evaluation, and reporting.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing dynamic teams within corporate or commercial banking contexts.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation aptitude, adept at engaging and influencing senior executives and decision-making stakeholders.
  • Relevant academic background such as a bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related disciplines; additional advanced degrees or certifications like CFA or ACCA are considered advantages.
  • Prior practical experience in corporate banking within Tanzania or comparable markets, with a sound understanding of local regulatory and business landscapes is highly preferred.
