Overview
The Head of Boarding (Girls) plays a pivotal role in overseeing the pastoral care of students residing in six girls' boarding houses at Gayaza School. This leadership position entails full responsibility for student welfare, managing prefect development, and supervising house-mistress staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct line management to the six House Mistresses and coordinate with the school Matron.
- Take the lead role in safeguarding procedures, including chairing weekly pastoral case meetings to address student welfare issues.
- Collaborate with the Deputy Head Pastoral to design and implement the prefect-development program.
- Maintain and update the boarding-life handbook, ensuring that revisions align with pastoral standards and communicate changes to parents each term.
- Organize and oversee the residential Open Day events, welcoming prospective students entering Senior 1 and Senior 5.
Candidate Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in any discipline coupled with a recognized teaching qualification.
- Proven senior-level pastoral leadership experience in a girls’ boarding school environment.
- Strong safeguarding expertise, including up-to-date training in child protection policies.
- Commitment to reside on campus within allocated accommodation, which includes a three-bedroom living space.
Desirable Qualifications
- Possession of a counselling qualification or relevant practical experience under supervision in counselling.
