Role overview
This position is for a senior finance professional to take charge of fixed asset and inventory accounting for a healthcare-focused organization in Doha, Qatar. The role centers on precise financial reporting, asset capitalization, inventory valuation, IFRS alignment, and the strengthening of internal financial controls.
Key responsibilities
- Direct the full fixed assets and inventory accounting process with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and smooth operations.
- Manage capitalization, depreciation, asset disposals, reconciliations, inventory valuation, and related financial reporting under IFRS and internal policies.
- Ensure month-end and year-end closing activities are completed on time, with readiness for audits, regulatory adherence, and ERP-enabled process improvements.
- Work closely with procurement, supply chain, engineering, finance, and other teams to keep asset and inventory records accurate and complete.
- Lead efforts to improve processes, reinforce controls, and upgrade reporting quality.
- Supervise, coach, and build the accounting team while handling performance management and workforce planning.
Experience and qualifications
- A minimum of 20 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance is required.
- At least 10 years should be in a managerial capacity overseeing fixed assets and inventory accounting.
- Applicants should have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in the healthcare or hospital sector.
- At least 5 years of exposure to the government or public sector is required.
- Minimum 5 years of accounting experience in Qatar is mandatory.
- Accepted qualifications include CA, CPA, CFA, or an MBA in Finance.
- Additional professional certifications in accounting or finance will be considered an advantage.
Technical and leadership skills
- Strong practical experience with Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) is essential.
- Working knowledge of Oracle ERP, SAP, or comparable ERP systems is needed.
- Deep understanding of IFRS, fixed asset accounting, inventory accounting, and financial reporting is required.
- Advanced capability in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook is expected.
- Experience managing large fixed asset registers and inventory accounting operations is necessary.
- Solid background in capital project accounting, audit compliance, and financial controls is important.
- Proven ability to lead accounting teams and coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders is required.
