Role Overview
As we expand our Information Systems team to support growing demand and enhance capability during our global expansion, this role offers an exciting chance to shape enterprise technology in a complex multinational organization.
The Head of Applications & Engineering will guide strategy, oversee delivery, and drive the continuous evolution of Gallagher's enterprise application landscape and engineering functions. This role manages a diverse portfolio including SAP ERP, enterprise applications, customer and commerce platforms, integration services, and both internal and external software engineering teams.
You will foster an engineering culture emphasizing quality, innovation, and continuous refinement, ensuring applications are robust, scalable, and aligned with business objectives while spearheading new digital initiatives supporting future growth.
Collaboration will be integral, working closely with Architecture, Data, PMO, and senior executives to influence technological direction, modernize engineering practices, enhance vendor relations, and build a high-performance team capable of enterprise-scale delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Gallagher’s enterprise applications portfolio to ensure security, modernization, reliability, and alignment with business priorities
- Drive strategy and continual improvement of SAP ERP and core business platforms
- Develop and strengthen a high-performing engineering department emphasizing modern development methodologies, DevOps maturity, and ongoing improvement
- Manage delivery of customer-facing platforms, digital products, and integration services
- Balance operational excellence with strategic transformation projects and major technology programs
- Mentor, develop, and motivate multidisciplinary teams across engineering, applications, and delivery functions
- Partner with senior leadership to translate business strategies into impactful technology solutions
Candidate Profile

You excel at navigating complex environments, building effective teams, and cultivating trusted business relationships. You are adept at long-term strategic planning, leading large-scale technology deployments, and ensuring operational excellence.
Required Experience and Skills
- Extensive leadership experience in enterprise applications, software engineering, or digital technology within complex organizations
- In-depth knowledge of ERP and enterprise application landscapes, especially SAP ECC and S4/HANA
- Demonstrated success managing sizable, cross-functional technology teams
- Strong grasp of modern software engineering principles, cloud technologies, integration strategies, and enterprise architecture
- Experience balancing day-to-day operational support with strategic technology transformation initiatives
- Excellent business acumen, including managing vendor and partner relationships
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and persuasive capabilities
